Heli-Bar Advice

I just bought heli bars for my '98 and haven't installed them yet. The manufacturers instructions say to remove the top triple clamp to rerout the throttle cables behind the right fork, but I've also heard of someone disconnecting the cables from the throttle without removing the triple clamp. Just wondered if there were any opinions on this.
Thanks.

Re: Heli-Bar Advice

Howdy,

I went the route of disconnecting the throttle cables and disassembling the switch housing. It was a bit of a hassle but I did not have the proper tools to remove the top triple clamp. I have been told that if you do have the right tools, it may be quicker and easier to just do as the instructions say. There are lots of little fragile pieces in the switch housing and if you are not careful, it would be easy to break something. I went real slow and took my time.

There is a brief write up of the process on my website in the PRESENT section.

Adios,
