Part for saddlebag mounts

OK, without going too into it, I took the saddlebag mounts off my bike a few months ago to clean up the rear end. Since I usually ride without them anyway and they don't take too long to put on. However, I am missing a part for mounts. It is the plate that goes on behind the license plate, not very big, if memory serves it is just sheet metal. Called my dealer the other day about replacing that part, and they can't find part numbers for the individual pieces. So I figure I will call Honda corporate, surely there has to be a way to replace a single part?!?! From loss or damage. When you look at the fact the bike has every nut, bolt and washer with a individual part number, even each sticker! But no, they only sell the whole thing? And now the bags and the mount are one part, there isn't the mounting kit and then the bag kit -- it is all as one. So we are talking BIG bucks for me to replace one piece, and I'll have 4 bags in my garage! WTF! That is just nuts. If I hadn't just spent over $4k on the damn thing, I would go get a BMW F800, heck, I am thinking about it anyway! Just piss poor planing. Not that I am a big fan of the F800, haven't even ridden one, but just pissed off. And I know when I had my K1200RS you can order every part of those bags seperately. Accidentally break your handle, you can order a new one. Bag scuffed on one side from being dropped, you can order not just the whole bag if you need to, but just the "top" of it and replace just that.
Anyway, would love it if someone had that part for their crashed or stolen VFR, but don't hold out too much hope of that. What I am considering is if I remember correctly, that piece is just a piece of flat sheet steel, not too big. And if someone had that plate, in their garage, and could maybe trace it on a piece of paper and mail it to me -- for a small fee even. Just going to home depot, getting a piece of metal, and making a replacement. Wouldn't be pretty since I have no metal working skills, but would work and it isn't really seen. And would save me like $800!

PM'd you. Got your address and will send out a drawing of it with necessary info on 2-12-07. You may want to round up the stock while it is on it's way. It is made out of 4mm or .156" thick steel. (1/8" would probably do just fine though) Just for verification, you are talking about the plate that bolts the 2 bag mounts together and then fastens to the bracket going up under the license plate right? I hope so, that is the diagram that I am sending you.
