My 2k VFR is making a squeaking noise when I start and when it idles. The squeaky noise is coming from the front left side and stops when I grap the clutch. I can hear the sound a little when I am on right side turns also. I checked all fluids and checked to make sure nothing is loose or not connected. What is this - it is driving me a little crazy.
People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care!!!
ok - I have done some research and again the guys over at Intruder Alet have provided more help than I get here. Maybe a sprocket or chain related issue. Also may need to check the clutch basket. Now that is kinda simple - Happy I am an IntruderAlert member or else I would have gotten no help - bummer

Ya know, this is the second thread of yours that I have seen were if you do not get an answer within a couple of hours you get angry and say that you get better help at the intruder forum. If that is the place that you love more, than get help there and stop being disappointed here, not to mention complaining. Why do you keep coming back if you dislike it here??? I am curious. I would just kindly suggest some patience. Maybe the person that could best answer your thread is not around.
For your problem: I am not exactly sure what it could be without seeing it in person, however, it seems like it could possibly involve your clutch and/or clutch cable. I would start by taking the left side bodywork off, and listening for the squeaking as it engage and disengage the clutch. See if you can pin-point the noise more precisely. Maybe your cable needs lubing, or something in your clutch is a miss. Or like was suggested, check your chain and sprocket. It sounds like something might be loose on the bike, or need some lube.
We just keep different hours than those guys.
Stuka... you've been out in Southern Cali too long. Emon is from freakin' Queens and he doesn't have time to wait for all the helpful forum members on the West Coast to get back from their yoga class on the beach to assist him with his squeaky wheel issue.
I'd just grease some stuff. does it squeak when you are moving/not moving? ie... is it wheel bearing/chain/sprocket? or does it happen both places?
Stuka,I've looked and looked for a clutch cable on my 2000 VFR.All I see is a hydraulic thingy.LOL

I have to agree with D about the time issue. Not everyone is in the same time zone or keeps the same hours, Hoever, digging on the forum because one did not get a response within a few hours is uncalled for. I believe I have mentioned this before to emon07. Doing this also make others less likely to assist. Please keep in mind that we indeed are in different time zones and keep different hours so response times may be delayed. It is ok to seek out other resources.
Now as for your squeek, as mentioned above: Left side sound, stops when you pull in the clutch. 1st: it is not the clutch basket as that is on the right side of the engine which I am sure you know. It could be the push rod just kind of rubbing a bit on the slave and when you put pressure on it the squeek stops. Remove the slave and pushrod, put a litle grease on the end of the pushrod and reassemble. If the squeek stops, problem solved.
Let us know what you find out so we can pass this info to other members.
Thanks
