I Robbed a Bank!!

So I ordered some touchup paint from Color Rite www.colorrite.com to fix some minor scratches on the baby. Really easy ordering by the way and had all the factory color codes...

BUT, it came last night in a bubble pack envelope, I actually thought it was the earbuds I had ordered, I ripped er open stuck my hand in and was shocked that my hand was wet! I remember thinking, "Why would there be fluid in my earbuds?" Low and behold when I extracted my hand from the package it was bright red! It looked like a dye pack had just exploded in my hands as if I had just robbed my local bank. The curses that followed were reminisent of A Christmas Story when the dad goes down to fix the furnace.

So of course I immediately called Color Rite and the guy that answered could care less. He asked if the other items were damaged (I ordered some paint pens as well) To which I said "I dont know they are covered in PAINT" "well just because one is broken doesnt mean the rest are.." So i told him to hold on, put the phone to my hip, waited, said "yep this pen has paint in the cap" phone to the hip, "yep this one too" and so on. He begrudingly agreed to send the order again. NOT very friendly at all.

SO after 2 hours of scrubbing with mineral spirits my hand has this nice pink tinge to it. I hope the cops dont stop by!

Billy it frightens me that you seem to have experience with bank dye packs blowing up...

well, sending paint in a BAG. I've seen milk in bags before, wine in bags, but not paint. No more pounding to get the lid back on. It bet it doesn't take much space on the shelf either. Easier to mix.
Hope you have better luck with the next batch.

you know I have heard colorrite does a good job matching, but yours is the first account I have seen of their service... I used their competitor from ebay and it matched my bike fine for half the cost.

So, they confirmed via email that they are shipping in a box this time. Still very curt. I will keep you updated on how well the color matches but for right now I am not overly impressed with the customer service.

REG who do you use on eBay?

I have used and am currently using their touch up jar of Italian Red paint. It matches the original paint so well that I can't even tell where the scratch used to be.

One thing to note is that when you first put it on it may be a little off but don't worry it will change color slightly as it dries. Plus remember to clearcoat the paint and buff it out. It'll be glass smooth and you won't be able to tell where the scratched used to be.
