Looking for VFRW Ride Organizer Volunteers

Hello Fellow VFRWorld Members,

We have been pondering the idea of having "Official VFRWorld Ride Organizers" for each member's respective area. What this would entail is, simply posting up a thread about meeting up in your area for rides, BBQ's, gambling, stripclub hopping, etc, etc. You would also try and be proactive and research members in your area, contact them via PM (or however) and try to drum up more interest in each ride/meetup. Once you post up a thread/invite, you could produce some ride/meetup ideas, and see which one that everybody likes the most. This does not mean that only an official can organize rides in your area, but that the official would just help nudge things along is all. Drum up excitement and cammaraderie!

So, what I need from you folks, is if you are interested in being an "Official Organizer," please speak up, or forever hold your peace. Please tell us if you are interested, and what area that you would try and cover. For instance, if you are Joey_dude, you might say that you want to volunteer, and that you will cover Northern Georgia and Southern Tenn, or the entire state of Georgia, or whatever that you are comfortable with.

We would pay each of you $500 a month, per diem for strip club expenditures of course, and a paper of immunity to show to the local sheriff in case you are not Joey_Dude and the cops actually catch you. You would also be expected to run 5 miles each day, and hit the weights for at least 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. haha....just joking! Only gift is your sense of pride of doing something good!

I would recommend creating your own social group for your area. Then your members can just check for messages, and /or leave messages on your group page. Just go up to "community" on the tool bar above, scroll down to "social group", click that, and then go to "create a new group" at the bottom of the page. Choose a name, then post up a thread with the announcement and location of your social group. I would still post up a new thread for each ride, but this just helps organizing between local members.

Speak up folks, who wants to be an Official??

Tentative list so far (will be finalized later, some might want to split up large areas further):

Joey_Dude --- Georgia, North & South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Squirrelman --- Western New York
Reg71 (nominated) --- Central Coast California
Mello dude --- Ohio
derstuka --- San Diego County
killerkingdon --- Arkansas
65hemi ---------Northeast Oklahoma
Chris17Mach1----Dallas/Fortworth, Texas
Freewheelburner---Eastern NY and Penn.
EddieValleyTrailer----Northeast Tennessee, SW VA, Western NC area.

Sure, I guess I'll volunteer for the official of the georgia as well as states to the north such as South and North Carolina and even Tennessee.

If you're feeling brave enough I can even offer cop-running classes for the low price of $59.99 or 1,000 easy payments of 6 cents.

I already know some members here like Wrestler and GeorgiaRider plus I got two other biker friends that I sometimes ride with. Oh, and there's a member SVMamasita that I haven't had a chance to ride with yet.

Is there anyone else in georgia wanting to go on a fun group ride? I know of a fun route on US-9 that goes up to the mountains plus there's the Cherohala Skyway. I'm also game to any new routes that I haven't been on. Come on don't be shy! I've already been out of prison for only 1 year!!

I nominate squirrelman for the Western New York Ontario Canada area that I would be happy to help with. DO we have a second on the floor for this nomination? If I could get him to at least read this post he may except his nomination.

We have a Honda VFR and HAWK (rc 31) riders from ONTARIO and NY Meet and Ride planned for July 27 at Niagara Falls, meeting up at the SKYLON Tower around 1 pm and going on a roughly circular ride of about 150 km in the Niagara area.

National?!?!? I'm gonna need 100 volunteers for that. Can I just be on the Collaborative Yielding Analyzing Proactive Outrunning Precise Objectives (C.Y.A.P.O.P.O.) committee?

I'm not the organizer type, but I will throw this out there again (made a post but no responses). Sunday August 24th is the 4th annual Hendrick Charity Ride in Charolette, NC. I'm riding down with some family and possibly new member mchase. I have never been, but friends that have say it's a fun time. Shoot me a PM if you're gonna go and we'll see if we can find a meeting place. We need some VFR's to represent, god knows there will be plenty of Hardleys there .....LOL

I'd suggest next Saturday, 8-10-08, at 3pm, for a meet up at the Shady Valley Country Store on HWY 421, in East Tennessee. We could meet and greet, make a couple of runs, and be home in time for supper. Anybody, with in three hours or so, interested? Joey Dude?

Organization ain't my thing, I just follow my front wheel.

Got a specific address? I can google it and estimate the riding time. I could probably do it if it's not too far. Last weekend I went up to Cherohala skyway and tail of the dragon and was back home by around 7 pm.

Hey Joey,
No specific address, but Shady Valley, Tn. is on my map. It is NE of Johnson City, SE of Bristol. If you can travel that far, the "Snake" has good twisties, with great sight lines!
Scan HWY 421, as it leaves TN towards NC. Tn. HWY 91 & Tn. HWY 133 cross at the store. I believe they count 439 curves within twelve miles of the store. Not as technical as HWY 129, but better sight lines. Also fewer people "bowling for VFR's".

Mac

how hard would it be to start another tab under the Local Riders forum category to include smaller, more local areas of interest (like new york, norcal, socal, DFW, Las Vegas, etc areas)

maybe if we get that set up, we can see who's where and who would be willing to participate in stuff like that, and also give people a more localized forum category in which they can start GTG threads and such.

I guess since nobody else in the area has jumped up, I could volunteer for the Northeast Tennessee, SW VA, Western NC area.

im wondering if there are enough VFRW riders to put something together in the DFW / north texas area. if so, id be willing to invest some time in putting some rides together (and not just an annual ride, id rather get out closer to once every month or 2)
