Michelin Pilot Road 2
Well, I got up Saturday to ride my bike to work and noticed I was having more difficulty getting my bike around the driveway. Noticed my tire was low and behold I had 8 pounds of pressure. Could not find a nail and didn't have time to look for a small hole. Needless to say later in the day I found the hole and have been able to get by with filling my tire daily until new tires arrive. I presently have Continental Road Attacks and decided to purchase Michelin Pilot Road 2's. I'll let you know what I think. Best prices I have found for these tires were at Derbycycles.com. I purchased front and rear Michelin Pilot Road 2 for $258.98 plus $35.00 2 day shipping. This beat anything else online and $100 dollars at my local bike shops. Neither of my bike shops could even get the tires in for about 1 week. Sometimes bike shops offer a deal where if you buy the tires they'll mount them for free. At this time neither of my bike shops offered this option. I mostly posted this to let people know of some recent prices and later will give my impression of the tires.

I think you'll be happy with the Pilot Road 2 tires. I made the same move from the Road Attacks a few thousand miles ago. The Pilot Road 2 tires stick to the road really well, and I believe they ride smoother down the freeway. Not as prone to feeling or pulling in all the little cracks/grooves in the road. They hold in the turns and don't slip easlily as the Road Attacks did. Even two up riding on the hard in the back roads, not a problem, feel very confident.

I am very ready to change the stock tires on my '07 RWB. I think I may go with Michelin Pilot Road or Conti RA's but am open to any suggestions regarding any good deals. Does anyone know of any hot deals on tires or can recommend an online retailer that has reasonable prices?

+1 on the Road 2's. I've got 3K on mine and they are holding up great. I do 80% commuting and so far hardly any squaring off. Very good grip when I get to ride some where other than to work. My local dealer had the best price - half off MSRP. Took the tires to Cyclegear to get them mounted, $60 out the door.

I had some fitted to my '93 and they have been very good. I was amazed how well they coped with torrential rain when I was caught is a downpour on the way home on evening.
I just wish we could buy them in OZ at that price. We pay AUD $500 or so fitted a set! They'd better last me a while... |

I just ordered the Pilot Road 2 tires from DerbyCycle for $274.59 shipped. I look forward to them as I'll be replacing my stock Dunlops that currently have 6,000 miles.

We have the pilot powers and I am very impressed with them, they warm quickly and feel very sticky on the lean. losta friends use the roads and swear by them. When we get rain in SA, often it is very light and just enough to lift the crap off the road, Makes like an ice rink. Found the Pilots to handle this well.
