good turns to bad

I went on two rides this weekend, both were awesome. I was having a blast, came home and put my bike up. I have a pair of car seats in my garage and they were stacked infront of my bike. I know I'm an idiot for stacking them there but they seamed stable. They weren't!!! Now I need to decide how to fix or replace the front fender any advise would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

Sticker, Pinstripe, Cut it off on both sides like Sebspeed did on the 6th gen and make it look like a CBR one....

testors makes a pretty good match for the 2000 yellow. Don't have the number handy. A little sanding, some smooth paint strokes and some polish will return that to like new.

You can get by with a lot less sanding if you fill that scratch first. Go to a hobby shop that sells model building supplies and get some "Mr Surfacer". Put a couple of layers of masking tape right around the edges of that scratch to act as a boundary. Fill the scratch (it will take a few coats of Mr Surfacer, the stuff is paint thin!). Remove tape, sand it smooth, and then paint it. That's what I do on models when I have surface defects to fix and it works pretty well.

Look at it this way, at least you didn't slide off the road into a river. As for the fender, depending on how particular you are, either cover it with a sticker, fix it, or replace it.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I took my fender down to a local body shop owner I know and he said he would fill the scratches sand it down and repaint it metalic black for 50 bucks. Then I asked if he could trim it down or cut some vent holes in the sides and put some steel mesh behind it to make it look a little more sporty. He said he could do that. I ended up telling him to do what ever he thinks will look the best. I am stoked, can't wait to see what it looks like.

I finally got my front fender back today. The body shop guy did an awesome job and only charged me 50 bucks!!

That worked out great. The fender looks awsome. Are you sure you didn't plan that whole stacking the car seat thing so it would fall on the fender? you know, great excuse to "have to fix the fender" to the wife? (if you are married anyway.)

I still have the chairs maybe if I stack them so they will fall on the seat. Maybe I could get a sargeant out of it.
