Dodge vs. Duck

Was going through my pics and came across this one a friend sent me. A grim reminder for the need for patience when all you want to do is overtake the idiot in front of you. The guy on the Ducati tried to overtake on a blind corner on Ortega Highway. Yes, the whole front end was ripped off and is about 50 feet away on the side of the road.

Don't know what happened to the rider.

Reg, you can't do CPR without a mouth to breathe into. That thing was decapitated.

Not to make light of the rider's plight...of course.

well, now that we are on the subject... I was thinking I heard of a partial decap once that the trachea was exposed so he was intubated and resuscitated right through the torn neck. Maybe I'm mistaken, though. Sounds like a good idea for my novel, though... Eat your heart out Steven King.

I used to have a picture of a kid who plowed his car right into/threw a car in Orlando. he T-Boned the car on the drivers side door & darn near put the bike all the way through the car. the picture is of the pass side of the car & you can see the front tire right up against the door. it looks like the biker riders helmet is sitting on top of the roof of the car (compact car of some sort), but if you looked closely, you can see the guys face still in the helmet. I dunno how it did not take his head off, but it did not.

the tragic part........... the 2 kids that were in the car were about a week away from graduating high school & this idiot with his lights turned off (a toggle switch was "the thing to do" back then) & the kids pulled accross the street not knowing that he was flying down the road.

I cant comment on the Duck rider, but this guy was a Phuggin idiot that killed 2 kids for no reason other than he was an idiot.

Bob

Oh, & anytime you have a REALLY good picture, dont give it to your GF to show her friends.

Yes a patient can be saved even if his throat is torn open. The key things to remember are the major vessels in the neck( carotid and jugular ) and the spine. If these are intact, you can intubate via the open trachea and respirate the patient. Basically doing a surgical crichothyrotomy with the cutting having been done for you.
Packing the wound and securing the tube are two major considerations after the airway has been protected.

Hey, you asked.
