    Clean and Green (Updated 3/1/9)

Cleaned up the first time since the spray can special, just made it back this week from NC (from Cen OH). I like it more every time I see it

Just needs a sportbike tail (like a CBR 600/1000RR) to finish the look. I still don't like the exhaust "caves" in the back.

The olive drab color is really uber-cool, though. I think that a few "well-placed" flat black warnings (aircraft style) would accent it nicely.

How about a shark mouth like off of an old P-51 Mustang or something? That would look sweet on it.

What paint did you use? Currently doing body work to repaint mine, debating getting a nice professional job or doing it myself. Just hate to spend the money, and end up low siding or something. Verse doing myself, then I could always touch it up if something were to happen....

Looks good, like the color. Nice with the lower muffler too. Too bad the tail doesn't look as smooth without the exhaust in there.

Looks Great! That low mount micron was weirdin me out until I saw the last pic. I take it there are no clearance issues with the pipe and rear tire/swing arm?

No clearance issues, I had to space out the pass peg with some washers and then it was fine. Less than an inch but I'm not worried. Still trying to figure out filling in that tail, probably a winter project.

It was krylon camo paint from autozone and lots of sanding.

The P-51 mouth is quite likely, just trying to figure out which one of my 'artistic' friends should do it.

WWII Military airplane history 101. Abbreviated...

P-38-Lightning twin engine boom tailed fighter bomber later used for recon.
P-39 Aircobra Slow, single engine bathtub that got shot down alot.
P-40 Warhawk, Tomahawk, single engine fighter that did a lot of shooting down. Made by Curtis aircraft. (Glenn Curtis being the fastest man on earth via a V-8 motorcycle on 1-24-07 going 136.47 MPH)
P-47 Heavy, but nearly indestructible fighter, Saw the later part of the war.
P-51 Fastest of all the U.S. planes. later "D" models had a bubble canopy.

If you are looking for sharks teeth, look up pics of the P-40. It had an air scoop under the propeller that made a pretty mouth.
    Any questions?
    Class dismissed.

Fearis, you could try buying an aftermarket undertail(hotbodies) and hinge it and make an undertail trunk. Might be a little fabbing involved, but it might be possible. Either way, awesome looking bike. Just mean!

With all the talk of WWII fighter looks, the finishing touch to heal the gaping hole in the back would be a pair of cylinders shaped like bombs with the little fins on them. You could even do a cluster with 4 or 6 small ones. Attach a switch to a servo so you can drop them on unsuspecting tailgaters. Fill the "bombs" with concrete and they will surely back off. Flat black that pretty can too.

Any luck with the shark mouth?

Flat black the can!? It's way too pretty for that.

Winter is here and I'm fiddling a bit. Will most likely have the exhaust back up under the tail in a couple weeks. Also sent that picture and a few other shark mouth pictures to a graphic guy I happen to be related to. Might try the vinyl route, just have to make sure it sticks.

I have been procrastinating because it is all snow and below freezing temps. You just can't put something brand new and exciting on a bike and then not immediately ride it!

Alright, well the P40 theme is almost finished. The fairings are being worked on and I've now changed the exhaust.

Oddly, it makes an interesting nekkid bike, like a roid raging SV

Had a friend help me gut the stockers, too cheap to buy a full set up and just couldn't figure how to fill in under the tail. We decided that looking like the stock exhaust was no good (heat shields too flashy for flat also), the green throws subdued out the window. So new tips, hollow cans, and bead blasted the outside for an interesting finish. Sounds like I'm running off the cat but deeper! (saved the titanium in case I ever have to meet a track noise req)

Not sure how I feel about the color of the exhaust now, I'm almost considering flat blacking those. Thoughts?

Freakin awesome! I just flat blacked my aluminum cans on the RC51 and they look great. You should do just the tips of yours, like the last 6" or so for a jet engine look. You should also paint the passenger pegs or scrap 'em. How did you make those tips?

I need to find a set of junk plastic and tank so I can hook mine up too. Can't wait to see it with the mouth on.
Looks much better than crappy polished aluminum. I used hi temp flat black, sanded them lightly, and did a couple coats.

The cans look good on that RC! Dang I want one of those.

I definitely agree about the pass pegs, they really break up the lines. Flat black soon to come!

Perfect. I want to get another set of plastics for mine and do the same, or get another bike to do. Must turn a lot of heads.

Freakin' AWESOME!! I've been waiting to see how this turned out! I'm thinking a few small fins on the exhaust to look like rear stabilizers would finish off the tail fo the fighter bike! Keep us posted. Great work!

    Pretty fricken sweeeeeeeeeet!

Did you end up doing a vinyl or paint job for the shark mouth?

All you need to do now is black out all the aluminum(forks, frame, pegs) and heat shields, then add a tail number and voila!

You could even go all out and stencil some GSXR's on the fairing above the radiator indicating the number of squids you've embarrassed!

lol I've already got my dad (my vinyl connection) working on some 'kills' for me

I like the wing idea too, the more detail the better. I'm not looking forward to taking everything off for blacking out, it will probably be just one thing at a time.

Update: Just to let everyone know I traded my baby for someone's R6. He wanted my bike badly for touring and my priorities have really shifted to backroads and hopefully a trackday soon. Thanks for everyone's compliments while I was putting this together.

The bad news is, he plans on painting the bike. So no more P-40 VFR. The good news is, if someone really loves it they can be the only VFR out there with this scheme.

Thanks again guys, see ya out on the road!
