So? I'd rather take my chances, train and hone my skills to ride a bike that fast (or faster) and get my knee down routinely than live on my knees, riddled with fear and never experience the FUN of riding a bike flat out, routinely. I pinned and held the VFR 5x yesterday alone. What is living without risk? Why would anyone make a bike with that kind of performance if it wasn't meant to be used, experienced?

I have had my VFR up to 140 - 145mph and it did not feel like it had much else. My club brothers ride Kawi 636s and CBR 1k mostly, and they go as fast as 160 - 170mph. I try to go easy and usually cruise at 120mph on the open road.

Hey, I cannot disagree with you - it makes sense to go to the track for high speed action and to hone skills. I do get to the track and do some Clinics, but when touring on open road I pick my spots and go when I can go safely.

it goes fast. To tell you the truth, most tracks, top speed isnt an issue, it is acceleration. At least NHIS in new hampshire, I never get above 4th gear...
Im a track man now, nuts to showin off on highways, I like the corners and the line. Fastest I ever went on it on the street was the first year I owned it, 154. Probably wont be doing that speed again anytime soon.

So putting that aside, how fast have you had your VFR on the road? Come on tell the truth, we all get a little crazy.

1996 VFr 750 FT
Top speed attained was 169 mph on road between Pamplona and Zaragoza in Spain on the way to the Moto GP in Valencia Nov 2007. The road was the AP-15. Supersmooth, super grippy tarmac, two lanes clear sunny day and not one car on the road. The best thing about the ride was that this wasn't a 10 second blast over 150mph, we caned it for about 35 - 45 minutes like this. It was a huge adrenalin rush. It sounded like a jet taking off inside my helmet though and gave me earache even though I was wearing earplugs. :-)

Top Speed
This reply comes after four hundred and four,... Which begs the question, is another response even necessary? Shouldn't there be a cut off to this thread? Shouldn't the thread be discontinued? When after reading the first few pages where riders say they got scared after running 125mph, I have to ask them and myself, why the hell would you ride a VFR? You need to switch to a boring ass Harley if 125 scares you. |
