had my 5th gen to 145 with givi wind screen and heli bars. It felt good , but when you see that speed it get's skeetchy
in '02, heading south from Mono lake in route to death valley a buddy and i hit the throttles (both on 99's). Going downhill mind you... mine read a hair under 160, but sadly, Mikie was inching ahead of me. I'm guessing he had 160/161. That same trip, most of the hwy between phoenix and LA was spent between 135-145 in 114 degree heat - neither bike complained a bit - but we had to stop every 30 for shade and water. I still have the same bike, but now in Brooklyn - she's been stolen and recovered twice (true story), and so far given me 46000 incredible and trouble free miles (minus fork seals and a regulator, and now there's a weird glitch in the instrument panel... urg).
anyway, 159 - personal best.
Had the GPS on my 5th gen show 134 close to redline in 6th, but that was with 1 down in the front and three up in the rear. (pretty quick, but not so fast) Probably good for 145, but I haven't tried with the stock gearing.
Got popped by a Pa trooper at 173 on my ZX-11 once, a long time ago. That bike was fast, spooky fast.

Gandy Bridge in Tampa today, it was me. I hit 157 when I was with this crazy kid on a new GSXR750. He hit 184! Such a great day for a ride, too.
The only rub on this run was that when I got to speed I encountered some very unexpected shimmy on the front end. I think it was due to the oscillating road surface (think pre-stressed concrete sections forming the spans of the bridge making that slight roller coaster feel).
It was totally surprising and I had to shut her down anyhow as I was quickly approaching a construction zone. Much fun!

Last night about 1am, I hit 10.5~11k in 6 gear. Could not see the speedo.

Depends if you've hit ludicrous speed. I've had mine up to 220 mph, but only after the tires were warm; otherwise it'd be dangerous.

Hyabusa guys were asking me why my bike was so fast. I told them that that was just the way VFRs roll.
youre crazy derek lol ...
im pretty sure i know where youre talking about...
looked like an awesome place to open her up, but traffic was a bitch at the time. i was on a pretty fast and unfamiliar at the time bike, 07 cbr600rr. i managed 165 later on that night in the keys' 7 mile bridge. felt pretty good, except i felt like a monkey fuckin a football on that tiny bike... lol

2000 VFR HAD TO 230 KILOS IT DIDNT HAVE A LOT LEFT, BUT WAS STILL GOING .......RAN OUT OF ROAD....AND BALLS!! BUT i THINK 240 KPH IT WOULD BE TOPPED OUT
Allow me to translate:
I had a 2000 VFR to 142mph, not much room left on the tach. but I was still accelerating, the road was too short to hit the actual top-speed, it wouldn't have mattered anyway because my testicles fell off and hit the pavement 20mph ago, so I laid off the throttle. Had none of this occured I believe I could have got the thing to 150mph.

I can't help it, I love to do it...Gandy is under Controlled Airspace, both Tampa International's and MacDill AFB's planes fly right over. This ruled out the potential for any airborne coppers, so I said "WTF! let's go!"
Be advised CRC that 30+ over the limit mean a trip to the clink, so BE CAREFUL!
I haven't been over the 7 Mile in forever :) I'd love to see how fast I could make it...
And yes, those 600's are totally different...small and light...165 is impressive :)

yeah i heard that the 7 mile is air monitored from time to time...
nonetheless the other day me and busa boy made a trip to key largo.
pulled to 140 and then backed off... was fighting a 40 mph head wind and didnt feel that comfortable... next thing i know, vrrrrrrroooom(more like a the fastest hoover youve ever heard) he flew by me at probably over 170!
insert facepalm lol....
...so the GSXR Kid and I head to the approach of Gandy and I hammer it...he realizes that I'm gonna blast off and by that time, I'm already at 130 or so...
I'm checking the mirror to see if he's with me, and he blows by me like nothing...goddamm kids on Suzukis! And off we went, probably got a good half mile or so ahead of me by the time I hit 157 - he was at 184...
Too much fun!![]()

time for NOS! lol
The following story probably didn't happen, but just in case it did, the names of the persons involved have been changed and/or taken out completely. In the wee early morning hours we strategically set up communications and checkpoints using ambulances every 3 miles along a fairly straight 15 mile stretch of highway. Anyway, "Hector" passed the first checkpoint at 160 indicated and he did not let off the gas one bit until 4th check point at 12 miles and at this time his bike indicated to him that he was going 174mph. Has anyone else "wound out" a 6th gen VFR800? This particular bike is stock execpt for a BMC air filter and +2 on the back. So the million dollar question is how do I... I mean How does "Hector" set up the equation to solve for true miles per hour vs. indicated miles per hour. "Jones" forgot to hit the stop watch at the 15 mile marker so the total time is believed to be off from anywhere from 5-55 seconds. So all we know is that it took >5.5 but <7 minutes to complete 15 miles. At this time we are unable to solve for average speed due to this stopwatch error but should be able to solve for true top speed, correct?
Fact: 174=highest "indicated" mph during experiment.
Variables:
stock speedo is already off by as much as 10% (from info gathered on this site)
+2 on rear sprocket
135 indicated last weekend - this was redline in 4th gear on a very dry 40 degree morning at sea level...

Still getting used to this bike. I love it. I have had it for about 2 months. I have put just over 2000 miles on it already. Yesterday I was riding down a back road in Ingles, FL. It was a nice dry day no one around so I opened up the throttle. After a few seconds I let of the gas and looked down. I was going 130 MPH! I couldn't believe it. My SV650 gets a little scary around 100. This thing was rock solid and wanted to go faster... Can't figure out why I waited so long to get one.
