I would clear coat them preferrably. Putting them on after is always a option, but they will more likely fade/peel/chip, or get damaged in some way.

What stuka said. I had a bike painted several years ago and put the decals on after. It looked ok, but they look better clear coated.

I'm doing the same. I been told to have the paint work done and a wait a week for the paint to cure then install decals and clear coat. My decal guy said the gases that the paint give off during curing will react with the glue used on the decals. If you don't clear coat the decals they will fade sooner.

Or you could always leave the decals off???

I only have the Honda emblem on the gas tank of my yellow 5th generation. I like it this way, personally.
