Recalls
It is hard for me to believe that the voltage rectifier issue on vfr's and many other pre 2k hondas is not a recall. The most commen problem with these bikes seems to be electrical. My 5th gen still hass its original RR but I am worried about taking a long trip with out replacing it or bringing a spare(updated version) with me. Are you starting to see what is wrong with this picture. Just wandering on your thoughts if the RR issue is worthy of a recall.. In my opinion honda should foot the bil on this part!

Based on the frequency of failure, I totally agree. I think that Honda is acting lame and has dropped the ball on this one for sure.

I agree. Charging systems have been around for a long, long time. How Honda managed to get this one wrong is puzzling. But they did, and they should 'fess up and replace the faulty parts.

Ignorant on this one. My 04 is my first vfr. I have read and seen many threads on this issue. Does anyone know why it is not an issue on 6th gens? What did Honda change that finally solved this issue....

A new rr was designed with larger cooling fins and some internal changes. The same thing is true for the new part for the 5th gen! If there was no problem with the original design it would be the same as was offered pre 2k? however it is not.
