What is your favorite vfr?

Before the threads start rolling in I want to hear from vfr owners that have owned at least 3 different gen bikes. Your opinins of strong and weak points of each version. As imposible as it seems I think this is the most unbiased way to settle this once and for all! I cant wait to see how this all turns out!

There's no way in hell to settle this once and for all other than they are ALL outstanding. Why do thing the viffer has got multi year upon year of kudos/awards in the moto rags? It was and has been the absolute best all around made for multi decades. Very hard to top.

Myself I owned a 4th around 7years and wanted to upgrade between a 5th and a 6th. I had a great vacation opportunity to ride both over roughly 3000 miles and set out looking for a 5th. Check out the very good comparison going on now as 5th vs 6th on the front page. It nails it.

The 4th is a speciall machine in its own right and could have been built by Ducati. Beautifull analog gages, a very personall egos, torqueky smooooth engine. A very soulful ride. I want another one.

i guess im your target market having owned all the gens, except gen 3.
I guess i like differant things about each gen.
for instance i am a big fan of Gen 1, dodgy cams and all.it is a unique shape that represents the changing face of motorcycle design in the mid eighties.

my top 3 in asthetic order are the Gen 2 in RWB, the Gen 4 in red, and the Mac daddy of all V4s.....the RC30. i know its not really a true 'gen bike' but its so cool and still looks bad ass 20 years later.

I have owned two fifth gen bikes (2001 and 2000), a sixth gen(2004), and two third gen bikes(1993 and 1992). The only one of these bikes that I still own is my old faithful 1993 third gen. All of these bikes were excellent, but my 1993 I have enjoyed the most

definitely the RC30, but the 1989 model is very attractive as well. The 1998 model is pretty sweet too!

Third Gens are the sexiest.

While the weather is crap I'm swapping out the mirrors, installling a pro shift kit, and replacing the levers with Pazzo's. I'm also toying with having the V/H exhaust re-skinned in carbon fibre this winter.

I've owned three. A red/white and blue 1986 VFR 700, a White 1993 and a Red 2002 VFR 800 with ABS. I loved them all and wish I would have never sold the 86 and 93. I loved the looks of both the 86 and 93 but I was always wanted something I could tour on. While I do miss the whine of the gear driven cams of both the older ones I love my 02 the best for the following reasons:
1. V-tech, I love when it kicks in while in the lower gears especially first when it pulls v-tech wheelies.
2. Dual under seat exhaust, nothing beats the look and sound from my dual carbon fiber under seat cans. Another benefit is not having to worry about my passengers burning their leg on a hot pipe. Also, having a clear view of the sweet single sided swing arm with out a pipe in the way only adds to the great looks.
3. ABS, I love them. Not having to worry about lockups is great. My favorite thing is being able to stab the rear brake and never worry about it locking up.
4. OEM luggage, I used these the first time when I went to Sturgis and it was great. Being able to pack along a weeks worth of stuff along with my camping gear gave me a new perspective for touring.
5. Super bright headlights, put on the high beams and you have 4 bulbs burning.

1994, 2001 & now the 2007 RWB. Love them all. I wish the '01 had available OEM hard bags. I might have kept it forever.

I have only owned two a rwb 86 750 and my current ride the 92 white 750. I cant decide which i like better. They both are great bikes.

93 Flying Refrigerator is the best - love it.

btw: 92 is Granite blue metallic - dcompson, you may have a 93 or a respray on your hands, either way white is the way to go.

I saw a 2006 respray and decal job made up to look like a 93 in Northern VA, what a machine... love it!

How about weak points in each gen? We all know we like the bike we ride (especialy if you have owned three of them). I personaly am more interested in what we dont like. Maybe honda will take notes..

Ha, Honda take note? man if they have been taking notes they'd have a full room of em. and would like to believe they'd move forward on some of them. Ha. Me Hmm weak points not sure if they're weak or not but since you asked. No FI, they had it on the 96 Rc45 so why didn't the VFR get em.? Thou the carbs work GREAT! Brakes need to be more on parr with today's binders, Rear wheel needs a single nut IMO Mmm what else.. oh yea 125+Hp to the ground would be nice.. along with a minor diet. Did I mention I love mine.
