Tyres & Punctures
In the UK one of the most popular subjects is discussing which tyres to use on our VFR's. The two most popular ones in the UK seem to be Pirelli Strardas and Mitchelin Pilot Road 2's, however a lot of UK riders are finding the pilot road 2 tryes seem to attract punctures like a magnet, some riders getting as many as 3 punctures in the life of the tyre. Do you find this in America with this tyre. At the moment I am using Avon Storms, but would'nt use them again, as I find they make the bike feel very wooden and square off very quickly, next time I will probably use Dunlop Road Smarts.

Can't speak for the Pilots from a puncture standpoint as I refuse to ride them another mile. Something about their profile does not mesh with me. I feel like I'm on ice.
I can't say I've heard any consistent complaints about punctures with any tire on this board. Could be your mates are having some odd coincidences. + 1 for the Strada's. Been using them for 3+ years now. Stable, good mileage, good price.

I had a Michelin Pilot Road 2ct, and it seemed to hold up well. I had a Metzeler Sportec M3 before that that I had a blow out on me on a busy freeway...not sure why...it was a cut/rupture though. You might want to elaborate on what "type" of punctures that you are talking about? Are you talking about something like small nail punctures?
Seems to be quite a few of us Damn Yankees are running Conti Road Attacks, or Metzeler's on our Viffers.

+1 for the Stradas. Very good tires at a good price.

fill your tyres up with slime..It will help out with the punctures or you could just carry extra rims and tyres with you on top of the cooler and batterystorage tray that some vfrs come with these days..just be careful not to disconect that pesky thermostat and don't ad to much slick50 and veggy oil..

Caution for those who change their own tires. Slime will make the bead extremely hard to break with conventional breaker bars and tire irons.
