Bye Bye VFR.

Well I guess I can unfortunately now say its officail that I am no longer a VFR owner. I had to sell it to pay off some bills in September. I put a lot of work into that bike to make it the way I liked it and now its someone elses. After paying off those bills and doing a lot of thinking on what to do to replace it. I thought about my riding style, the places I ride, the fuel economy, the power of the bike, and so on and so on. After lots of thoughts and ideas I finally came to a conclusion (partially because of the price of the bike) and I ended up sticking with a Honda, but went with an 04 CBR 1000RR! I have been riding with a lot of friends that have the liter sized sport bikes and really wanted to be able to keep up with them on our rides, and I wanted to have a bike that was a bit more sporty (not that the VFR couldn't do any of the things the others could do) mostly because of the weight and balancing of the bike. I have had it for about a month and a half and am loving it. It has a lot more power stock than the VFR did, and the acceleration is unbelievable. I know that for the year it is it was the heaviest of all the liter bikes, but the power is right up there with all the others and it does have a bit more torque than some of the others. I have always been a Honda fan and so I am glad that I still have all Honda bikes. Hopefully when I get tired of this bike Honda will again hopefully have a VFR with a 1000cc engine, we will see in due time. I will always have a passion for the VFR, and if I could have I would have kept the VFR and just added on to my collection. Anyway, I thought I would share that with all of you and I still plan on visiting this site every now and then for no reason. If anyone ever wants to ask about things I did to my VFR please feel free to ask. If anyone has any tips or ideas on the new bike please let me know. For now all that I've done to the 1000RR is a Scorpion Stainless slip-on exhaust, and the BMC Race air filters, so it is mostly still stock and has plenty of room to play with it! I will attach a pic of the new bike.

Sorry to hear you had to sell off your VFR... I hope you do still hang around this site, I'm sure everyone could benefit from your experiences and stories still. Good luck with your new baby and let us know how the mods go.

Yes, good luck with your new to you stead. I know what you mean there about 1000cc power. It would be nice to have some of that in the package I have that's for sure. dD I need it? No, but would be nice to have now and then.. Yes, please do stop by and let us know how it's going

No I didn't need it, but man do I love it!!!
I figure since I got the bike bone stock like my VFR was, I can really feal and see the changes that will take place while doing my mods to make it my own. I will have to put it up for winter a bit sooner than the VFR, it likes to spin the back tire in the colder weather more so than the VFR did. It just blows me away how much power this bike has at the rear wheel compaired to the VFR. Its such an adrenalin rush to feel the acceleration of this bike(when the tire is gripping). Its probably good that I got the bike at this time of the year so that I don't accidentally hit the throttle too hard & flip the bike over. I find that I am more cautious with the throttle just because of the fact the tire spins so easily in the cold weather. You can be cruising along at 50 mph and give not even half throttle more and the back tire will just spin even with the Pilot Power Race tires on it. Now that is a lot of power if you ask me.

sorry about the lose, you shoulda tryed slick50 in the vfr it feels like a 1k bike now and is way more comfortable, but excellent choice on the 1k cbr they are awesome and more friendly then the rest of the crazy hp street missle onethousands out there..I may get one in the next year (used grey-black) but if I put slick50 in there i think it will be to difficult to control..

You had to sell an '02 VFR a month and a half ago to pay off bills, but then turned around and bought a newer bike ('04 CBR1000R)? What am I missing here?

Actually the loan on the VFR started out at a higher dollar amount than the CBR loan started at ($7200.00 vs $4600.00) so the monthly payments are less, and believe it or not my insurance only went up by $2.00 a month for full coverage. Yes I got the CBR for $4600.00 out the door! So it ended up working out all around for me!

You know, I should try that in my 1000RR. Then I would like totaly woop ars on all the other liter bikes out here!

Congrats. Ur new bike looks beautiful. If I had to change from my 5th gen VFR the 1000 CBR would be my first choice too! Enjoy ur new monster!

Nice machine, I went to the '04 'blade blast when they launched it here at Eastern Creek race track, was able to alternate 4*15 min sessions between it and my then Gen 6. Impressive not only was the 'blade fall of a log easy to ride very fast the motor that felt like a traction engine next to my VFR with no insane peak like a ZX10R just a solid deceptively fast trust forward from mid range...

By days end was happy to ride my more comfortable and unique sounding VFR home but even now the '07 Red / black 'blade still tries to tempt me into buying it when the hooligan in me wants to be let out.

Funny you should metion that, one of my friends has an 06 Yamaha R1 and his definition of the power between the two bikes was he thought his felt a bit electric or smooth throught the rpms, and mine he said just plain felt anger or mad with lots of raw power. I thought that was a fairly good description for it.

As far as the 07 version, yes it is an excelant bike and won a lot of the riders choice competitions, however the 08 and newer version is just soo much beter as far as power and weight and driveability. From all the reviews I've seen Honda has won the liter class all around. I do however think the looks of the new 1000RR or Fireblade are not the greatest. It will take some time for that look to grow on me. For now I'm just happy with what I have and man is it a blast to drive!

I got to ride a 08 CBR 1000 for half a day and was thoroughly impressed, I know some of the other liter bikes will top the CBR on the top end but the buttery smooth mid range and the rider friendly ergo's for a liter bike on the CBR makes it the most rider friendly of all of the liter bikes IMHO...
