Has this been posted here before? If so, I'll remove my post.

but i'm sure there will be newbs to the forum that wont have seen it yet. BTW, that CR500 street legal motard sounds real interesting! how about posting a pic up of that.....and of course your Gen 4!

I'd be glad to show it off.....so thanks for asking. It is part VFR, maybe I'll post it in the "modifications" section.
It started as an 01 CR125....I added an 87 CR500 engine, parts from a VFR800 and an RC51. I put it off to get the 480 converted to street-legal trim, then I'll get it finished up. I have crappy pic of the 750...I'll eventually clean it up this winter and then get a few proper camera poses. Click on any pic for each complete album. From this: To this...experimenting on panel colors, and where my user name comes from: The 480: Saved the best for last. The VFR800 wheel is now on the 750....the 750 wheel is on the 500. A fairing bracket is a little tweeked. I'll pull it down when the weather gets crappy, straighten out the windscreen and do a major cleaning. For now I'm enjoying the heck out of it, and I don't have to worry if it gets a little road grimey: Thanks for the interest, Gene. |

Gene, Wow......that looks cool. not sure about the yellow rear panel, maybe im a traditionalist but id like to see a white panel (maybe been seeing too many CRF's!) but conceptually the layout with the SSSA looks great.
That 480 looks very old skool cool too. I bet an aircooled 500 single 2 stroke is a bit of a wheely machine! hows it handle on the road? I used to ride a CR 125RD (1984) so a similar vintage to the 480, it had a great powerband compared to the others 125's of the time. Great to have another gen 4 in the ranks, she looks nice & tidy too. thanks for sharing awesome stuff, keep us posted on the 500! RT

Thanks RT. I've had a lot of feedback on the 500 from the supermoto forums that I go to. Everyone likes it.....it's different.
I rode MX in the 80s/90s, all the Honda open class bikes had the yellow plates. 250s had white, 125's had black backgrounds. I'll eventually stick some yellow vinyl sheets in my printer and make up some custom #s and graphics. I had a CR450 in high school, it was a freakin gorilla bike....Honda tamed the powerband on the 480. It'll wheelie in any gear w/the twist on the gas. The air cooled 500 was brutal, seems they played w/timing and ports to mellow out the water cooled version. I can't wait to ride it. I got this much done in 6 months....it'll take another 6 to get it complete. I posted a thread in the mod page. Good to hear that you're from the era of factory works bikes (NR500/750)...the best times in bike development. Cool to chat. |

I was looking at u-tube vids of a few VF100R bikes.
Those remind me of Freddy Spencer. Cool pics of old history. |
