Buying a Viffer. Are these decent deals.

Went to a local dealer and they have a 05 silver Interceptor ABS. The dealer says it has 92xx miles on it, but I think he was looking at the wrong numbers. On their website the bike has 6259 miles. The selling price is $8999.

I just looked again and now they have a 06 non ABS interceptor with 969 miles for $9599.

I was thinking about going out of state, but may have to reconsider. I don't know the proper way of breaking in a bike so I am scared about getting new. I don't want to mess anything up.

Do the two deals above sound good. Both of the prices are more than kelly blue book suggest dealers should sell for.

That doesn't seem far below the new price... I guess if they are in real nice condition, though, it's not too bad. I bet you could find a better deal from an individual, though. If I was gonna pay almost the same price, though, I think I'd get ABS. Not sure, but I do know the resale is a little more. I would think with the 07s coming soon, you could get that 05 down a little more... Then again sometimes you can't.

I wouldn't worry about 'break in'. Just don't ride like a phsycko for the first 500 miles and you are cool. But, as I've said before, Ray at otdcycles.com said he talked to a Honda engineer who said, "Don't worry about it, these engines don't even loosen up until the first 25,000 miles"

hey hfam95,

I bought my 04 in april of 05 new at a honda dealer for 8600. So those prices sound kind of high to me, or maybe I got one hell of deal. The break in they told me was 600 miles then I had them do the first service which was pretty much a oil change.

ok. I just notice another dealer just dropped the price for a new 06 non abs for 9199. The bad thing is I might not be able to get a bike till after the new year. I hope they still have some good 06 deals by then.

just went and got some dairyqueen and remembered that chicago cycle had advertised new 06 vfrs for 6999!!! I saw it in a mag called cycle trader for the minnesota wisc area. I believe that they have a web site called chicagocycle.com but i'm not positive that is the correct address. The add also says they will ship the bikes they sell. They are even open 7 days a week. Hope this helps

yeah that is tempting isnt it reg71. I looked at the mag today at work again and it was advertised as 06 vfr non abs for 6995, but the picture that was with it was a f4i. They also had an 06 1000rr advertised for 8495, so their prices they put in their 6 page ad seems unbelievable. wish i had the funds now and that my wife wouldnt kill me if i bought another bike

Was/is that at Brothers?
Once in a while they have blow outs that they pick up out of the factory warehouse, they've done that on other models too. I've also seen the 06-1000rr for $8599. so if one goes to the trouble there are Deals out there.

I paid 9200.00 without tax and tags. I did t&t myself. The dealer that sold it to me is one that we do dealer transfers with (yamaha) and he gave it to me for $100.00 above cost, so 9199.00 seems pretty good to me. The dealer that has them advertised at 6995.00 seems too good to be true. Kinda like that supposed dealer from seattle that was selling bikes way below retail, only that the bikes he was "selling" were available only overseas.

Well called the guy in chicago. He wants 8999 for a 06 vfr. Well they have them here for 9199 and the abs for 10k. I think I will stick it out here. The cost to ship it from chicago will be $600. So i might as well stick to locals. I didn't call him on the <$7k someone mentioned.

that sounds good for an 06,
the biggest deal with me getting the "NEW" 06, was that I would have had to finance it as a used bike (even tho it had 1 mile on it, and had never been titled)

hfam95, sorry they did'nt have it for the 6995 they had advertised in the june issue of motorcycle trader (minnesota, wisc). I'm tempted to fax to them their ad and ask what the ---k. The price did seem to good to be true but thats false advertising, those basturds. Hope you get one.
