Just Got Mine & Have a Few Questions...

My 99 VFR800 arrived today. My first VFR and first sport tourer. I have a couple of questions:
Where is the owner's manual and tool kit located. I assume under the seat, but how do I get in there?
With the O-Ring chain, I was told by someone that they should be cleaned but not lubricated. He suggested I use WD40 to clean the chain, and said that chain lube would cause the rubber orings to degrade.
Any answers to these 2 questions would be appreciated.

Hey Sebring. Glad it finally arrived for you to enjoy. The tool kit and owners manual are under the seat like you say. On my 93, I have to unlock the helmet lock, then behind the lock is a lever I pull to unlock the seat. I always lube my chain, o-ring or not an I use the Bel-ray Super Clean chain lube (or whatever its called) that goesd on white and doesnt fling off or flings very little.

Very pretty. It looks a lot like this... VMan is right about the manual and the seat unlock is the same on our models. Dunno about the chain thing, but I would go with what he says since he has the same thing I think.

Thanks, Reg and Vman. I picked up the bike at a truck top about 20 miles from here. His truck was too long to get into my neighborhood so I met him there.
My first ride and it was very impresive. Handling way more reponsive than I have experienced on other bikes; Acceleration was great; Seating position more comfortable than I expected; Got to get used to the close ration 6 speeds, but that's going to be easy; Sound is a little throatier than I am used to hearing from the in line 4 GSXR's, and I like it quite well. Thanks much. I expect to be posting more questions as I get into it. As for right now, am very happy. I appreciate the help. thanks

It took me a litle while before I was comfortable with how mine handled. I wasn't used to "sport-bike" handling and I must say I was a bit intimidated by it at first. But now I don't even think about it.
