Some (lots of) pics of my trip to the Dragon.......

Here are some pics of the trip I took on the weekend of Sept 15th. It was for the VFRD Fall Dragon Group Ride. I linked up with jstanwoods from Indy, and tinyminds from Richmond, KY. (these are their screen names, btw). We took the slab most of the way, but still it was a good trip.

This is at the overlook entering the Dragon from the TN side. There is a also a good view of the dam where some scenes from the movie "The Fugitive" were shot.

3rd, 4th, and 6th gen at the overlook:

Entering the Dragon:

These are on the Dragon, tinyminds is leading on the 6th gen with me behind. jstanwoods has a 4th gen and is following me:

These next two are on Blood Mountain, which I think is part of 129 in GA, but don't quote me on that. This was on our way to Turner's Corner, which is a nice little restaurant. This was on the Saturday loop and I was following sondance.

We missed our turn onto Warwoman Rd. which head to Clayton GA. We stopped here to get a GPS fix which was pretty much a futile effort because of the location.

Sondance is asking our fellow rider if he knows how to work the GPS (just kidding).

Stopped in Clayton for fuel:

Everyone stopped at Turner's Corner for lunch. This is a pic of our group of bikes, but there are more parked in front of the restaurant.

VFR's at the Robbinsville, NC Microtel:

I am expecting a few more pics but have not received them yet.

Finally some pictures of the dragon, it's everything I thought it would be. That fourth picture looks like it would be a lot of fun. Someday...

Some great pics there and what looks like an enjoyable bit of road. And the 6th gen in black looks sweet. I am a fan of the black, particularly with black wheels (the black comes with grey wheels here - I am colour blind, so not 100% on the colour, but it isn't black, I know that much).

Thanks for pics

You woke a lot of memories for me as I was there last summer on my BMW.

You got a good representation of the area, I stayed in Andrews Valley NC.

Did you get some pics of the Cherola Skyway too? It was fun on the K bike and a lot more on fun on the lighter VFR next time!

Unfortunately I did not get pics of the Cherohala Skyway. The only stops we made there were to let those that fell behind a bit to catch up to the lead, and those stops were not long enough to allow for pics. I want to go back and get some though.
