Any suggestions or experience with Handlebar Risers? I just want to raise the handlebars up enough to relieve some pressure off the hands. Is it possible to raise the factory bars or are they at their max. height?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions/help.
I have the gen mar risers -bought them on e bay for 50 dollars they helped a little, now i can cruise about an hour before my hand goes numb :).If you can find them cheap i would say get a set but i think your money would be better spent on a new set of bars,,read the old posts there is probally 100 different answers to your question.
I just put on a set of heli bars. Very well built product and was able to keep all the original brake lines, etc..
They are up and back a little. I'm only 5'7" so it's a good help. Honestly though, not major but it helps for longer rides. I was starting to get some bad pain in my right wrist, which is gone now. They aren't $50.00, they are like $250.00..

I haven't raised my bars yet (the 4th gen's are a little higher than the later gens) but I have found that a Throttle Meister helps a lot. It lets me use my palm to control the throttle, so I can relax my grip from time to time.
Also, working on your lower abdomanal strength helps. If you're a new rider, or new to the "sport" riding position, you might have a tendency to put too much weight on your hands, and not enough on your ass. There's a good explanation of this in Total Control by Lee Parks. It's a good book.
Hi...... If My Hands Get Numb It Is Usually Because I'm Not Relaxed In My Grip. Same With Arms And Shoulders. Too Tense In The Saddle Makes For An Exhausting Ride. Hope It Helps.

I own a Throttle Rocker and a Universal Throttle Boss and I recommend the Throttle Boss on a VFR. I think anyone could benefit from using one it really helps relax the throttle hand, I love mine. They are both the same price, and I've even got a link to a page that sells both: http://www.kuryakyn.com/category.asp...n=Grips&page=2

I use Heli risers too plus a cramp buster. On longer rides I fill up a tank bag and use it to lean on to take off extra pressure from my wrists. That helps a lot. The Heli bars raise the handle bars by about an inch and move them back about 3/4s. It isn't much but it helps.
