TomTom Rider 2 - Electrical Connection

Can anyone advise the best place to get power for the TomTom Rider 2 ? When I look at the wiring, it's nightmare to know where to "cut-in" so change the GPS on the go.

Many thanks

Tap into the headlight power, that way it'll only come on when the bike is on.

Hmm, I guess that's to have the option of having the device powered on without the headlight when on the side of the road or something (whatever the mode between on and locked is).

I just installed a garmin zumo and got power for it from one of the rear running lights, since that was an easy area to splice at.

The key mode between on and locked is nothing electrically as far as I can tell, just lets you remove the key without locking the steering if desired.

I'm guessing the rider 2 would be similar to the zumo in that when you turn off the power, it says something like 'external power disconnected....continue on battery yes/no' and gives you 30 seconds to say yes or it shuts off. On the zumo anyway the audio jack for turn by turn directions & mp3's only works if it has external power.

On my 500 the mode was marked P, it kept the tail light on and nothing else. I had Lock/P/Off/On from left to right.

Ah interesting. The 6th gen has I think lock, then just an off position where you can remove the key but I don't think it leaves any lights on or anything, then on/run, then some emergency position that lets the hazard lights run without the headlight I think is how it is.
