Rear Wheel Damper Set

I need some info and advice. I did the fron, rear and swingarm bearings on my 2k VFR. I saw that the rea wheel Damper set was kinda dry rotted so I ordered the rear wheel Damper set. I checked on the order and found out that the part has to be ordered from Honda and of course Honda has the part on backorder. Will I damage anything on my VFR if I ride the bike with the dry rotted Damper set on the rear? It ain't just Honda I am disappointed with it is the settlers oops dealers that do not want to stock anything that have me angry. I just happen to love my VFR more than I hate Honda. I am close to saying the hell with Honda and going back to Suzuki and getting a Hayabusa as a trade for my VFR. I am really fustrated because it is the riding season and I have a bike that is great, and I have spent money on a bike I cannot ride til maybe the end of the riding season. Honda blows chunks!!!!!
