carbs?

can anyone tell me how to take the carbs off of my 1988 VFR750 FG(it's a 86 model) I have all the cables and fuel lines off. Do the carbs have to be split? or can i lever them to one side and remove the other at the same time? I have petrol flowing out the drain hose, therfor assuming the floats are stuck, probably due to gunged up shitty petrol. (bike was lying in storage for last 5 years, it was partly stripped as well) The carbs don't exactly pull of like the inline 4's, due to the V formation. I can only assume the have to be split into two's and then prised out, is this correct? I am new to this forum business and this is my 1st question i need answered, can anyone help? thank you in advance.

On my FZR, I did not split the carbs, I carefully levered them side to side, fron to back to slide them off. If you do not have one, I would recommend buying a repair manual...they are worth their weight in gold! You will need to dissasemble the carbs and remove whatever jets that you can, float bowls, and let everything soak in carb cleaner for days.

DO NOT split them, if you haven't got them off already, I always pry them off of the boots. If you split them, springs will fly everywhere ( been there, done that), and then you have to crawl around trying to find them for an hour.
