How much is my 1985 VF1000R worth?
My 1985 Vf1000R was purchased new in 1987 for $4,500.00. It has 12,700 miles on it. It is in completely original condition.
There is some body damage on one side, I dropped it when I hit some sand at 10MPH. I'm in Bradenton Fl. I'm not sure I want to sell (due to gas prices) but before I put it on ebay or VFRW, I wanted to get an idea of prices. I've looked on ebay, but never saw a complete 1985 bike, only parts. Please offer your opinion. Thanks |

Depends on condition and what a buyer is willing to pay. There is one on ebay right now where the bid is at $5600. It is very clean and has around the same mileage as yours. Another one on ebay is going for $4200 "buy it now" with some fairing damage. I have seen them go for as low as $3000. If one was not in a hurry I have seen them even cheaper. I wasn't and pick up mine for $2500. As you mention fuel prices are high and I heard prices will climb again. If you keep it you could sell it at a later date. These are collectors bike and you won't lose anything if you do.

I've never seen a 1985 VF1000R go for more than $4000 in pristine condition. The 1986 is the year that everyone wants. I've seen those go for upwards of $6000. For that kind of money, the bike would need to be flawless. Parts and bodywork damage are tough to deal with and will substantially lower the value.
