New to Motorcycles and Forums, virgins rule.
Howdy, I'm a proud new owner of an '84 vf700 sabre. This is my first bike and I've never messed with forums before either... (ah there's nothing like the first time). I think I got the perfect starter bike tho and I'm starting to realize the pride that comes with these V4 beauties. I saw the bike for sale in my hometown for $1500 and gave the guy $1300 for it, it's nearly flawless and runs perfect.. only 24k miles on it and doesn't smoke or make any weird noises. Like a dumbass tho I layed it over at a stoplight because my scrawny ass was too weak, and go figure ever since then it has an idle problem. It didn't damage anything thanks to my highway pegs and the briefcases which I took off anyways. U think that was a fair price for a 24 year old bike? See u all on the forums!

Welcome Steven, my first bike was a 1982 vf750 Magna. Very similar, but a little bit more cruiser-like. I've always liked the Sabre, and used to be a member of the SABMAG mailing list.

Can't say whether $1,300 was too much or not, but it doesn't really matter. All that matters is that you are content and enjoying the ride. Sorry about the drop but that's a lesson we all learn sooner or later, usually sooner.
Word of advice (actually 3 words): Beginning Rider Course. Take one, it is worth it.

What kind of idle problem have you been having? It sounds like it could be a problem with your carburetor. Because they have so many small, finely tuned parts, a good whack can mess things up a bit. Hope you find out what's wrong.

Welcome to the site! I know a thing or two about accidentally tipping over, as long as no serious damage is done don't worry about it too much!! (Yes I know, its super frustrating when you do it.... my tip over resulted in a broken foot peg
).

Welcome! $1300 is an excellent price for a primo V45 Sabre. In CA, they go from about 1100 for a runner to about 2000 for a really clean one. The V65 versions can be up to about 3000 for a low mileage super-clean one.
