New to me 93 VFR - new member

Hi, my name is Jerry and I'm from Kirkland WA near Seattle. I'm a fairly new rider and bought a 75 CB400F that's in nice shape several months ago. The bug bit and I was riding more and more and starting to want something bigger that handled freeway riding better and was overall more modern and substantial. I'm a car guy too and track 911's, race a vintage formula vee and hang out at Pelican Parts forums. There is a pretty good size bike contingent there and several VFR fans. So the search began and didn't take too long. I've been watching CL closely and looking at CBR600's as well as VFR's. I didn't like the CBR6004fi I rode, very twitchy throttle, not much bigger than my CB400f and just felt wrong.

The VFR on the other hand fit me like a glove, very smooth and impeccably cared for. The one I bought has maintenance up to date and full service history and books. It was love at first ride. It's got 33,000 miles, has a very nicely done yellow paint job at some point vs. the original white, corbin seat and some other goodies like V&H exhaust. I don't know if I would have picked yellow but the visibility is a big plus for me. I was just so impressed with the seller. He takes really good care of his stuff and was a super nice guy. He had an older Goldwing in his garage that looks showroom new and has almost 100,000 miles. He rides almost every day and replaced this one with an 02. The only cosmetic issue is an area on the right side where the bike was partially dropped from the center stand.

I took the long way home last night after picking it up from his house. He only lived 15 minutes away, somehow took me close to an hour to make it back. Freaked my daughter out a bit who took me to pick it up.

Looking forward to learning and riding more.

Photos, I hope:

Hello and welcome to the fold. Nice looking bike.....love the yellow! I really like it. Funny thing....someone just posted this link from craigslist where it was advertised for sale a week or so ago. Small world!

Looks like you were on the right track as far as posting, pics, but you need to first click on an individual picture in your gallery to open it full size, then right click go to properties, and copy that URL. Like this....

Thanks, I fixed the pic. The paint was nicely done apparently by a previous owner who loved yellow on his Ducati and wanted this bike to match that color. That was the story anyway.

I'm itching to get out to ride it. more. Of course it was raining hard this morning. It will take me a while to get used to the differences between this one and my old CB. The braking is a big change, I locked up the rear yesterday coming home. I need to get out to a parking lot and practice some quick stops and other manuevers.

This is the bike it will replace:

RVFR - I'm from Olympia and an excuse to ride down there would be great. I have some friends I'd like to visit as well.

Seattle - that sounds great. Is there a group local to the Seattle area that gets together?

Thanks all, the bike is a blast, took it out for a long run today and burned half a tank. Got caught in some pretty heavy rain. Thank god for the decent gear I have. I got wet towarrds the end but stayed warm.

I'll look at the PNWR website. My weekends for awhile are pretty jammed with trips and racing. I race a vintage Formula Vee in the local vintage club and we're running at Portland over labor day and back at Pacific Raceways the middle of September. Heading to Lopez with my girlfriend and kids this weekend to visit my sister. It's so damn hot out I drove my air conditioned car to work today. I feel like a wuss..........

Sold the CB to a guy in Portland, sad to see it go but I don't need 2 bikes.

Don't know how I missed this the other day.
Welcome aboard.
The yellow definitely grows on ya. I would change the seat though. Sargent makes one with yellow piping. Just an idea.
