New VFR

Greetings-

I'm a 28 year old 6'7" 220lb guy. I don't usually fit on sport bikes, but I like the VFR. I just bought a 2008 Interceptor non-ABS, and it's the best bike I've ever owned. Previously I had a '78 CX500 (for a summer before it seized up), then a '98 Shadow Ace 750 (for the next summer before some crazy flattened it).

I just put the HeliBars on it. They're awesome - and necessary - if you're over 6'. I'm thinking of doing the Buell footpegs too.

Check out my gallery if you like (aebailey40 Gallery - VFRworld Photo Gallery) - she's pretty much stock though so far

It's great to find a site with answers.

-Drew

Dude...
very sweet, love that color. have the red, but love the very high class look of the silver...
now save your pennies for a sargent seat...and the bike will be exceptional.
By the way, group buy on the Sargent any day now... $310 delivered... a bargain.

Welcome to the club! VFR is a great ride....

What's a sargent seat and why do I want one? Better than a corbin? What's their claim to fame?

i'm not being trite...so bear with me...
spend some time reading here, there are arguments for both Sargent and Corbin....
most fall out toward Sargent (based on my reading, and i've done a ton)
I've owned both, prefer the sargent for many reasons... customer service, quality, comfort.
I suppose you have not done any super long days yet... or perhaps you have, and you have impressive stamina! my ass, like most owners, developed a sincere hatred for the stock seat... many owners find the stock seat to be loathsome after about hour 4...

the Sargent will get you into 4-8 hour days in the saddle with much less discomfort... sometimes none at all!

read up on it...

you may find you like the stocker just fine!

Thanks - I loved the silver too. Although your red is a lot more eye-striking. I often wonder if the silver blends into the road... but I guess it's more likely ass-hat drivers just don't use their mirrors / eyes.

I have been looking at seats. The corbin was my first interest, because my lady would like a sissy bar. But I'm not sure if it's worth the $700 for it.
I've read (here and elsewhere) that their customer service blows, and confirmed it myself. I asked them if their seat fits '08 models, and they politely asked me to contact my dealer and cross ref both part numbers and then let them know. I checked into it, and the seat part numbers are the same for '08 as '07, but come on. Before I send them the $700 they should be able to tell me "Yes, it will fit."

I'll look into the corbin seats. Gotta find someone 'round here that has one to sit on.

It looked to me like they all have that red piping - it that right? I think I'd want all black...

Ok I looked around some more, and I see they are available in all black.

Where can I find info on the group buy?
