Introducing.... ME!
Hi all,
I recently became the proud owner of a 2007 VFR, quite by mistake. I had sold my last bike, a 2006 Yammie FZ6 last Fall due to minor health issues which caused me to be not a safe rider. I found a great doc who worked with me to figure out what the problem was and I started looking for another bike... wanted a sport bike that I could use for touring. Looked at the ST1300, but too big for me. I had never even heard of a VFR until (thank God) I ran into a salesman at a mixed brand dealer who knew his stuff. He listened to me (unlike most men ) and showed me the VFR. I then did a ton of research, was thoroughly impressed and went back a few days later to make a deal. I have been riding since 1997, when I learned on a 1983 Honda CB550 (Nighthawk), after taking the MSF Course and crashing head first into a parked pickup truck with the Honda In 2001, I bought a HD 1200XLS, then sold that and bought a 2003 Suzuki SV650 (awesome bike! Like a dirt bike for street). In 2006, traded up to the Yammie and you know the rest from there.I commute on the VFR every day to work and do frequent weekend rides around Vegas and up to Mt. Charleston with friends. I've had it about 3 weeks now and have about 800 miles on it... and one weekend and part of the week I wasn't even home!! I currently live in Vegas, but was raised in NJ, and lived in WA and CA (Bay Area) for a bit. Anyway, enough about me, I'm tired of talking about me... please say hi and let me know a little about YOU! I like to ride long distance, so maybe one day I'll be riding through your town and can stop by and say hi!! As a matter of fact, in a few weeks I'll be riding from Vegas, up through Reno, Tahoe, across CA to SF, down to Monterey... not sure what route back home yet. So, if you live along that route and see a 2007 (red) VFR with a girl in a hot pink mesh jacket, it could be me!! Karen |

A VFR Chick is welcome in my back woods any day.
Remember what I said about the weirdos? ![]() Yes we are going to San Luis Obispo this weekend. Several of us from NorCal as well. We have quite the Cali contingent going on. There are a few in LV as you saw already, and a few in Reno even. While here, check out the chat room. It's open 24 hours. I'm kind of a celebrity in there. ![]()

Awesome!
glad you are now well and back on two wheels.... You have a great bike and are part of a great group...... Sadly, we are far to your east in Tennessee (Chattanooga) but if you are ever this side of the world, stop in. have a guest room for any and every wayward rider... we have great riding in the smoky mountains... riders are family ya know? My girls love to ride and i hope someday they will join me on my long trips...on their own steeds... they can't wait. Stay well, and safe... and post some pics of the new Ride! course, pics of you too... Ride on........ j~ |

Thank you all for the warm welcome!! I'm going to reply to all posts in one... see if you can keep up.
First, I'm not talking about getting into Drew's "back woods"... I don't even know him, never mind wanting to get into his "back woods"!! I have friends in Snohomish and relatives in Puyallup... so maybe I'll get to meet you in Olympia!! I don't think I'll make it to SLO (or San Luis Nabisco as I like to call it) this time... it's like almost 10 hours one way for me... if there is an opportunity to do it over a 3 or 4 day weekend I might. Hey Fairfield, CA might be along our route in September... when I know the exact route, I'll let you know, maybe we can connect. Relatives of mine used to live there. PS-- Thank you for assuming I'm a lady!! As far as not getting off a bike... I generally put more miles on my bike in a year than my cage... I only take the cage when I have to transport something that won't work on the bike... or if I'm feeling really crappy... well, or if I'm wearing a dress. They haven't developed side saddle riding controls yet!! Are there still people from Vegas on this list?? Where are they? I can understand you being a celebrity in the chat room... after all, you live in Susanville! ![]() I have definitely heard there is great riding in the Smokey Mts. and want to make it out there some day. When I get some pics of the bike and me with the bike, I will post them out... I actually lived in Memphis for two years of my life from ages 5 to 7. Disclaimer: Remember I was raised in New Jersey, so sarcasm comes naturally. Please don't be offended by anything I might have said that 'could' be interpreted in a bad way... it's all meant in fun. |

PISH!! no need to disclaim yourself. People claim things here all the time. It is expected. I tell people not to believe a word I say.
Forgot to mention I was from Pa. Dad grew up in Middletown, NJ near Red Bank. I went to Stone Harbor every year for vacation.

That's cool that there are a couple of you from or in NJ!! I grew up in Jackson... largest town in NJ square mile-wise, but for a long time, smallest population. Noboby has hever heard of it. You guys probably know where it is if you're familiar with Middletown/Red Bank area and Mt. Holly. If you don't know it, you probably know Great Adventure. Great Adventure is IN Jackson... but I grew up more on the east part of Jackson, about 20 minutes from the beaches, just on the border of Lakewood. Best of all worlds.
I hate NJ too, and have tried living there after being gone... that lasted about 6 months. NJ is a great place to be FROM, but not a great place to live. I loved growing up there, really got a good education and great principles, learned how to be street smart, stand up for myself (so no, these guys can't bug me one bit... I'll put 'em in their place!!). Living there as an adult sucks the big one!! At least you won't be there forever!! |
