Hi, new here...

Hi all. I have what is probably a stupid question, so I apologize in advance... I have a 2007 VFR, and I can't figure out how to adjust my rear suspension? The diagram in the owners manual refers to a spanner, giving the impression that one should have come in the tool kit, but the dealer where I purchased the bike turned out to be really bad, and among other things I did not receive a tool kit. I know form my past bikes that it usually just includes screwdriver, pliers, and a couple open end wrenches, but I'm wondering if this spanner should have come with the bike, or if it's an item I need to purchase, or if there is some other tool that will accomplish the same thing...?

Any help is appreciated... oh, and I live in Las Vegas, if anyone can recommend a good local shop (other than Carter Powersports)...

u should of got one with your tool kit. came with mine i would go back to dealer and complain for sure

There is a black bag with all the tools you need. Check under your seat. If it not there you need to go to your Stealership and demand for one. I do have extra kit come down to San Diego I will give them to you.

No, you need that particular spanner wrench tool. Otherwise you might fudge things up.

Thanks for the responses. Tried calling the "stealership" (that's funny), they of course gave nothing but run around. I'm going to give honda a call and hopefully have better luck with them.

Question... does anybody else not feel like the stock tires are not so great?

Jaason:I'm in vegas so if you're up this way, be sure to say hi. There is a stretch of road going to Laughlin that is great. Big sweepers, two lanes each way... great for cruising along or running fast and deep.

Yo Typo, WHAT tires do you have on? (Several different tires can come on the new bikes.) I have the Meztlers on mine and I think they are decent to quite good. (But I know that there are many tires that are much better). I think the other possible brand on the new bikes is Dunlop.

As far as tires go, I recently replaced mine on my 07 and as a result of reading most of the tire threads and talking with members, I went for the
Continental road attacks as a matched pair.
theres plenty of tire threads to reference so have wander thru the forums.

In addition to adjusting the shock, the spanner is also used to adjust the chain. While it is indeed possible to adjust both without the spanner, I would surmise such an undertaking would involve copious amounts of profanity, followed by numerous alcoholic beverages & then possibly finished up with one's own blood sourced from cut up knuckles & fingers.

EVERY new Honda leaves the factory with a tool kit. If yours doesn't have one, it's because your dealership removed it in hopes to SELL it to you at a later time. Tell them to F off if they don't give it to you scott free.

The last option would be a generic spanner.

My Dealership said they didn't have my Manual! Then I pointed out that they had a second VFR so I finally got a manual before I left the place. Sheeesh!

Maybe it's just the fact that I am in Australia, or that I have a 2005 model. But I got 2 different spanners to do the rear preload and the chain, and a single handle to use as an extension for both. The 2 spanners are a different radius, so don't look like they will interchange with each other.

KC is right, ALL (Honda) bikes come with a toolkit, and if you didn't get one, then you are being STOLEN FROM by the STEALER... Geez, I bought my bike secondhand from a YAMAHA dealer, and got the complete toolkit and Owners handbook...

The update... finally got through to Honda, they called the dealer, and wouldn't you know it they are ordering the toolkit overnight and it should be here Monday or Tuesday. This is not before the dealer told Honda that I was looking for "dealer only" tools because I didn't want to bring my bike to them for service. Honda called me, and I explained that I was only looking for the standard supplied toolkit...

I think I tossed this out once before, but if anybody else lives in vegas (or used to) and can recommend a good local shop, please pass along their info...

Oh, anybody have thoughts good or bad about the Michelin Pilot Powers? A friend has them on his CBR 1000 and swears by them...

I have the Road Pilot 2's and am quite happy with them. A few others here have them too. They are a good all round tire, but if you are looking for something where you are doing a lot of agressive riding in the corners, you may wish to look for another more sport type tire.

So this is what I must do in oorder that I can have more than two beers. If only I had known. Then I wouldn't have had to sneek out into the garage so often
