New Rider, newish Bike

Greetings everybody,

I've been riding for about 6 months now. Got a 03 VFR800 and LOVE IT. Taken the local MSF course. Good stuff.

While I've always been fascinated by things mechanical (and am an engineer by trade), I have little hands-on experience. I was wondering if there were some books to recommend to me to get a basic feel for what I'm about for both basic maintenance, and quite possibly non-basic maintenance. I do have a buddy who's owned and troubleshooted bikes for years, so I'm not going to be totally flying by the seat of my pants, mechanically.

Riding-wise, welllllll, we'll just have to see about that.

Thanks,
Papa J
