Not a VFR owner...

but I'd like to be.

Hi, I'm new to the site and have been a fan of VFRs for quite some time. Right now I ride a 2007 Suzuki SV650 S, slightly modded, but have been entertaining the idea of selling or trading for a 6th gen VFR800. I've had my SV for a little over a year and about 13,000 miles, about 75-80% of those are commuting. Anyway, I'll be fudging around the site.

Welcome aboard. The VFR is a great commuter, I use mine all year round.
Fudge away. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Welcome to the site. If you see a yellow 5th gen running between Raleigh and Durham wave hey.

Funny, I just bought an SV back in early September. If you can swing it, keep 'em both

i looked for an sv when i bought my bike cause i really wanted a twin and i liked all that i read about them. now i think about them a lot for a track bike. i still ahvent ridden one, though. I cantell you that I like the VFR but I'll wager it's a bit more work to ride than the SV. It's a bit faster, too.

That's why I bought my SV, to use on the track. It's a blast! I recently got back into the track thing having only done a few days here and there the past year. The SV is the "safest" choice for a track bike. Hard to spin up the rear, great brakes and lower top speeds.

It's relatively easy to find one with suspension work done to it already which is what you need. The stock suspension is very VFR-like from what I hear.

Huh, I was the opposite. I was looking at VFRs because I wanted something with a little more of a relaxed riding position that still had some wind protection. The only VFR I've ridden is an 80s 500 that one of my buddies has. The thing is an absolute riot.

My first bike was an '81 Yamaha Virago 750. The SV is like a toy compared to it.

Shoot, I have the suspension worked over for mine, it's damn near necessary. Stock was aweful, it felt dead, wallowed in corners and I'd feel every little bump at speed. Underdamped at low speed and overdamped at high. Imagine hitting a bump in the road and feeling it twice. Damper rods and 5W oil on 0.67 kg/mm springs in the fork legs is not a good deal. I've done complete internals in the fork (Traxxion Dynamics 'drop-in' kit which is new rods and emulators, 10W fork oil - second gen, 0.85 kg/mm Sonic Springs), a GSX-R1000 shock swap and dog bones to get the tail 0.11 inches above stock. Night and day.
