Hello hello

I erroneously posted a reply about VFR rattle-can paint jobs as my first post, so I want to make good and introduce meself. Been riding for a few years, in this progression: Honda Spree, Yamaha Riva, Bajaj Chetak, Honda CX500 Custom, Honda CX500 Deluxe, VFR 800. So, pretty much the most sane, by-the-MSF-book progression you could think of. I still keep the CX500s around because they're so useful and comfortable. They are essentially low-maintenance rolling sofas. The Hondas I've owned were always very reliable, and suffered my backyard wrenching skills very well.

When the time came to get a "fast" bike, I waffled between an early-90s Ducati, a Ninja 250, or a late-90s VFR. I ended up nixing the Ducati idea early on, as the spare part situation seemed pretty bad, sort of like the CX500, except the Ducati broke more. Ninja 250s went for the same prices as used VFRs, and had been owned by lots of first-time riders, so they were pretty beat up. The VFRs, on the other hand, seemed to be owned by more responsible people, and the engines were said to have CX-like reliability.

I've actually spent more time wrenching on the VFR than I have riding it, but that's okay, because whenever I pick up a new (used) bike, I want to get everything "just so." I appreciate the way it's mechanically straightforward, as I do all my own work.

Anyways, just wanted to comment on the quality of these forums, and say hi!
