Done lurking

hey all,

I've been lurking around here for a while (drooling all over the modifications section mostly), so I figured I'd make an account. My handle is pmucka over on VFRD if I have talked with you before. I've got an 84 vf500 interceptor, my first bike that I bought this past summer. I love it to death, and recently got her back up and running after the carbs got cruddy after a month of sitting. Cleaning the carbs scared the sh!t out of me so I put it off for a while, but after having popped that cherry I can say that I wont hesitate to do it again. The seasons almost over, but I'm hoping to do some work on the bike this winter, hopefully getting it back into fairly pristine cosmetic condition (I am thinking about the engine right now, but from what it seems like, there isnt much I can do short of miraculously finding an old 4-2-1 on ebay, then rejetting). Anyway just saying hi, maybe I'll see some of you on the road!

P

I didn't hunt for a VFR, it hunted me! I found both sites after I got a cherry 98 and had some of those charging problems VFRs like to haze new owners with. Welcome aboard.

Welcome easy. I am told we are far more laid back that VFRD. I think I have only been there once. I don't think they would like me there.

Welcome P, glad to have you on board. Never mind Randy, he once pedaled his stationary bike across Canada, but he feels much better now.

Welcome, P! I joined here a few years ago but just started posting a month ago. Don't know why the hell I waited so long.

BTW, VFRD is a fine site, too, but I'm a fan of kickin' back on the lighter side here everyday.

hahaha thanks for the warm welcome everyone, I actually decided to make an account here because I find the maintenance and modification sections to be a bit more robust than VFRD's, not that I haven't been helped multiple times over there already! I am going crazy waiting for the 1st/2nd gen calendar to come out, so that I can have bike pronz on my wall all year long!

there is no dispute that the guys over at VFRD know thier stuff...they just don't allow the sense of humor that is located here.....I will hazzard a guess that a majority of the guys here would be /or have been kicked off of VFRD...

I'll agree there's something to be learned at either site, but I definitely laugh more when I come here!

I don't know about a "majority" but I'm sure some folks here were banned or just chose to abandon VFRD, which is far more strict about OT threads/posts. I'm probably more active 'over there' but I also like the diversity here.

Each site has it's high points IMO, and thankfully there's plenty of room on the ol' interweb! But what the hell do I know? I'm still a newb here compared to some of you guys.

BTW, I've met and ridden with at least a dozen VFRD'rs, and hope to do the same with folks here.

unless you were just at VFRD...then you must shower with your clothes on and repent for your sins...

oh, and drink a beer or two to loosen up and get the sense of humor back.
