Hello from a newbie to this forum

Hi there

I have a 1989 VFR750FK with an Ohlins shock and a few front fork mods. I've been all over Europe with it and it's a great bike. I'm thinking of changing the exhaust but I don't want anything to loud or which compromises footpeg layout or practicability.

Would appreciate any feedback.

Pretty much any pipe will not infringe on your footpegs. I think Srorpion has a street model that is quieter than a race but then why not just stick with the stock. The V Four motor is a very low rumble that is'nt really loud unless your really on it. So I would'nt worry about the loudness factor. Everyone is always saying that their pipes are'nt as loud as they expected but I think it's just the motor. Very low, deep sound...until you get the revs up. Don't worry it will never sound like an inline no matter what pipe you get.

Oh and welcome aboard

vfr pipes

Thanks for that Freewheelburner.

I think you're right about the V four sound - it's very low and distinctive. The folk around here are not as keen on bikes as me so I try to keep a low profile hence the noise issue.

My stock pipes are still in good condition and I was wondering about storing them up as new stockers are serious money.

I'll check out the Scorpion system.

Cheers

Hi Statters, welcome to the group. I have a 93 with a d&d on mine. its a bit louder at idle and at highway speed it is about the same. It only gets mildly loud when I crack down on it. I don't know off hand if there is still exhaust available for an 89 or not. But maybe Kerker still makes a set if the scorpions dont pan out. Of course there is always the custom route. By the cans you want and have a muffler shop make the pipes between the header and the muffler. The d & d I have is actually for a 94 - 97, but I had a shop make the mid pipe. Works well with no leaks and does not interfere with any pegs.

Hi Vinny

Thanks for that, I'll look into it some more.

I was just out for a 100 mile ride on real twisty roads - it's still a great bike even if it's a bit old now!!

Cheers
