New to the Board....
Greetings all,
Joel here (AKA MrJoelieC) Up in New Hampshire. Been riding a full year now and my first bike is a VF700F seen below: Peer presure from friends and co-workers got me to get my finance director (AKA the wife) to get a motorcycle. Took the MSF course and have been hooked ever since... Originally I wanted this exact bike when I was in grade school when it first came out... I had the magazine add for it hanging in my locker at school... Then I got my license and I asked my mom if I could get a motorcycle.... "Are you out of your mind!" was the cleanest of the word groupings she used...When I was married in 1995 I asked the wife...... "Are you out of your mind!" was agian used toward me.... The gas prices would continue to creep up and slowly year by year the wife was warming to the idea.... Finally I had 1500 bucks in my pocket and I bit the bullet and posted a "wanted" add on Craigslist.com "Wanted: 1985-1995 Sport bike" was the add I posted... After culling through the many responses finally a gentleman in Massachusets sent me 2 photos of this bike and his e-mail said the words: "Here my bike let me know." My response after I was able to close my mouth was: "How much and whats wrong with her?" He admited the tires were old but she had 19,000 when he bought her and he put 1500 miles on her... His wife wanted him to get a cruiser so she could ride with him and he said it really needs a carb cleaning and synch so he was willing to let her go at 1300..... Needless to say I jumped on it... he even delivered it... It was filthy as all get out... When I got it I thought the rims were all black but after cleaning it you can see they had shine hiding under the grime. I used Foaming engine degreaser on the block and then I put some elbow grease into the paint with rubbing compund and wax.... I think the results above speek for themselves... Wherever I drive her she still gets looks and compliments even with the small dent in the tank. I had a mechanic synch the carbs after I ran a few tanks of carb clean and he inspected them afterwords and pronounced them out of synch but pretty clean...after he synched them up this thing scared the piss out of me with the power.... I'm hoping to get a another year out of her...then I want to upgrade to a newer VFR.... I really like the VFR and I always have... I look at other bikes and then I see a picture of a black or red VFR or even a silver one and I get all choked up inside.... Well, maybe not that bad but you get the point... TTFN

That is a sweet looking bike. I'm gonna save that pic to help with my restoration of a VF500. welcome to the group. I love hearing stories like this. I got my bike from craigslist also. Both of them actually. It's a great place to find stuff. Stay away from the section called personals though! Wow!

Wow!!! Really looks clean in the picture. Hell of a deal. I can just picture someone who would let their bike get that dirty, did he have a vest on with no shirt and a beer belly with dirty jeans? Or was he the Skinny crank looking guy? Do you still have the picture when you got it? Would love to see it...

Well I do...However I took the picture after I had hosed it down with just soap car was and water.... http://www.mrjoeliec.com/cphoto/disp...183&fullsize=1 It was atleast whole.... I will say it had weirdness to it... the rear tire was more of a cruiser tire..... SO some brand new BTX tires were mounted... In the gallery here you can see all the pics I have taken so far.....I'm looking to see what I can do for a suspension upgrade..... they are a little soft..... and the airbag in the back is broken..... sigh....
