New to VFRworld...not new to VFRs

Hi all,

Been browsing around the site for a while now, grabbing up a little advice here and there and enjoying the many member photos that are posted in the galleries. Finally decided to join to say "thanks" for all the help to VFRworld after browsing through a thread on 6th gen exhaust options.

Exhaust sound clips

The sound clips provided by vman38 in this thread are very helpful and very comprehensive. Thanks vman38, and thank-you VFRworld for consistently saving me a lot of time and web browsing when looking for Viffer related info.

Me...I'm not new to motorcycles or the VFR. Currently, I've got about thirty thousand km on my red 2005. It's dressed up a bit:

-Honda sidebags and topcase
-Sargent seat
-Puig dubble-bubble dark smoke windscreen
-Tankslapper magnetic tank protector
-custom brake and clutch fluid reservoir covers

The next big mod for me will be an exhaust. Due to the serious $$$ needed for a 6th gen slip-on, I've still not decided on which pipe is the perfect choice. My list has been narrowed to the renowned Staintunes, the ever popular Remus CF pipes, and the uncommon and good lookin' system by BOS exhausts. I think I'd scoop up a set of Micron pipes if they would only fit on the bike with the sidebag brackets installed. Hope to have a decision made in the next 7-10 days.

Again, a big hello to everybody that's a part of this great web fourm...a perfect compliment to a truly great motorcycle.

Hi mdp. Welcome to VFRWorld and thanks for the compliments. I am glad to hear that we have saved you some time in your VFR-realted info seraches. Your 05 looks great. Good luck on your decision on which exhaust you want. And keep in mind that no matter what anyone here says, only you have to live with and like the sound of it.

I have come to the conclusion after hearing a couple other exhausts that there are only minor differences in sound and the only way you'll notice if after you have become accustomed to one particular. i.e. I have a 2bros and I rode with sloavi8or the other day who had a v&h. I could barely discern the diff and lets face it, we both ride 5g so we have the same engine noise (gear driven cam, v4) so my opinion on exhaust is go with what looks good and sounds good to you that you can get a good deal on. I dont think the power changes much with a slip on... maybe with a full system (hmm, maybe that's what I need...)
