Hello fellow VFR riders!

Saying hello to all from St Albert AB, CANADA........(15 min drive NW from Edmonton).

I ride a 2006 VFR which I bought this past spring when I traded in an 02 Vmax. I use the bike primarily as a commuter and the occasional road trip. I'm not able to ride year round since I live in the snowbelt area..........it does make me appreciate the times that I can ride. Roads are now covered in snow so the VFR has been in the garage for the past week. I'm hoping for a break in the weather pattern to bring some warmer conditions so I can ride one more time this year but it doesn't look promising........cant wait til next spring!

Lucky for me I can pre occupy myself in the winter months with trips to Marmot for snowboarding trips with my wife and 2 boys.........YEE HAWW, let it snow!

Welcome to the group, borg. I love that white color. Don't see many white ones. Good thing you keep it in the garage cause it might be hard to find in all that snow.

Thanks vman38 and reg71 for welcoming me aboard, I've been lurking for a few weeks now and find this forum to have more sense of community compared to another VFR forum I joined last spring. With riding season seemingly over for me this year, I may be checking in more often and hope to contribute the "collective".

My VFR stranded in the garage.....not a good thing.....sigh.

Welcome borg....I know you will enjoy your stay. You have chosen an excellent machine.

We might have an alarmingly high crime rate (my bike trailer was stolen a week ago) and yes we are distant from important markets here on the southern tip of Africa, but boy oh boy this must be bike heaven with reference to riding time per year. Where I live (in the northern part)we have more than 320 riding days on average per year which can be more if you don't mind the rain.....no snow whatsoever. In fact roughly 90% of inhabitant areas in the country don't get any snow.

Thanks all for the welcome.

ckporkchop23, quite happy with the stock bike....though I may look at getting genmar risers, Sargent seats and maybe aftermarket exhaust, I say maybe cause I like the looks of the stock cans......maybe I can just gut the cans for a louder exhaust note.....maybe.

MadnohB & SLOVFR, I truly envy your ability to ride year round, that would be awesome......but I'm not ready to give up the winters YET and move to accomodate year round riding. I'd miss the seasons changing and of course snowboarding in the mountains of Canadian Rockies in the winter months.

KC-10 FE, that shot was taken in front of a Veterans Hall here in St Albert. I have visited CFB Cold Lake though and it is perfect spot for aviation aficionados.

grinder & Terry C., yeah, you guys know what that white stuff is.....kinda disappointed about all the snow this early in the season. Last year I was riding til the end of November.......oh well, time to put away the riding gear and break out the snowboards.

Me and my boys at Marmot Basin Jasper AB.

borg, I liked the modding that you had already done based on the first pic (adding the tail wing really set off the bike's potential) but then I realized it was only trick photography. Welcome to the forum.

I can relate to the depression around the white stuff being from Cowtown myself. Maybe we can put on tire chains? As you say, I guess we're trading the curves for the slopes. Alberta VFR's unite!

Piperdown, thanks for the welcome.

Cowtown....that's where I'd like to move to someday, all the big city amenities and only minutes away from Canmore, Banff and Kananaskis..... just cant beat that........though I'd have a hard time cheering for the Flames and the Stamps......GO OILERS! GO ESK! hahaha.

borg, your welcome for the welcome. As they say: no one from Calgary is actually from Calgary (well I think I've met all 6 of them that are anyways). You mustn't forget Stampede. That in and of itself is all worth it (makes up for not being a Flames/Stamps fan).

By the way, if you get down this way on the bike you have to take Route 66 from Bragg Creek into the Kananaskis. It's a must. Cheers.

Never been to Stampede but I do hear a lot of good things about it......may have to check it out one of these days.

I do make it out to the Kananaskis area once a year and take that ride on HWY 40, it's quite a ride. Another ride I like is the road to Miette Springs and the road to Marmot Basin in Jasper.
