2001 Pre VTEC clutch problems
I have had a new clutch installed in my 01 VFR (pre VTEC) It has done around 100miles and is starting to go again!!!
I think it has got to do with a scratchy or scrapy sound that is made when I pull in the clutch lever, it (sound) also seems generally more present when the brake is being applied. Unfortunatley the mechanic I have spoken to wouldnt have a clue, so if anyone out there has experienced this problem and can help i would be over the moon. |

The brake and clutch are two different systems. Maybe you have a brake that is dragging? A clutch should last quite a while. Did the mech you spoke to do the work originally? Did you take it back to where you had the work done? How many mile are on your bike? I have never heard a noise similar to what you describe associated with a clutch.

Thanks for your reply Vinny.
1.The problem only seems to be excacerbated by depressing the brake and clutch simultaneously, the only thing that i can think of is that the movement in the adjacent clutch and brake lines. I only ever hear this noise when stationary so I doubt it that the brakes are dragging. 2.I dropped the bike off at the mechanic yesterday and was trying to help him out by posting this thread as I doont have a great deal of confidence in him, but i need to take it back there as he suppoedly fixed the clutch before and it is knackered after 100-200 miles!. 3.There is 18000miles, i know that is early for a clutch to go in the first place. The noise also seems to be coming from around the steering head which may lead to the mastere cylinder, it is hard to tell as it is not consistent. |

Ok, you got me on this one. lol Hope your mech gets it figured out. Miine used to squeak once in a while. When it did i'd hit with WD-40. lol Again, good luck on finding the problem and be sure to keep us updated on it so we will kinda know what it might be in the future should someone have a similar issue.
