Small magnetic tank bag

I picked this one up on ebay, along with soft saddle bags and a large tailbag from the same company. That was when I was riding my Suzuki Bandit. I was really impressed with the quality for the price. Sadly, the saddlebags don't quite ride the way I want them to on my VFR, but the tank bag works great. Its very simple, and inexpensive. It has a map window on top, and small pockets on the sides. It expands nicely when you need it to, but is compact when you don't need the space. It comes with a removable shoulder strap, which I have never used...it has a great handle on the font of it. It has a rubber grommet to route the cord to your headphones, and it even has a rain cover too!

I stopped using the mounting strap that clips around the steering yoke when I bought my VFR, and actually cut them off completely the other day. Its magnets are quite strong, and the bottom is rubberized so it won't slip or slide around on your tank.

Just about any tank bag will do the job, so here are the draw backs I've noticed with this one. None of them have really bothered me, but every rider is different...

-The size: 28 x 23 x 15 cm (20 cm expanded) {11" x 9" x 6" (8" expanded)} Its quite small, which I actually like about it, but if you want something a little bigger, this isn't for you. MotoPak has several sizes to choose from though.
-It only has the one large/main pocket(besides the very small ones on the sides) So if you like lots of compartments, this isn't the one to get, but the small pockets are great for your cell phone or snacks or if you take your wallet out of your pocket when you ride.
-My old bike had a black tank, and since my VFR is white, I've noticed that if I grab the bag in a hurry, it will occasionally leave a small black scuff from the rubberized bottom. Its similar to a scuff from a cheap shoe on a basketball court, but it wipes of very easily with your finger. It has never scratched the tank as the rubber is quite soft and grippy. (is grippy even a word...?)
-The back of it isn't slanted, so its not ideal if you like to pad it with something soft and rest your weight on it during longer rides. I don't personally like doing that, so I don't notice. I have done it in the past, and it wasn't bad, especially since I always wear a riding jacket, but I think one built with an angled back would be more comfortable.
-It doesn't look as 'cool'(IMO) as the ones styled like you posted. I think the slanted back looks sharp, but I'm cheap, so I've never really cared about looking cool...but hey, that's why I don't mind wearing my gear!

One last note: I have had it for less than a year though, so if anyone else out there has good or bad experience with MotoPak, please reply.

I have a Nelson-Rigg magnetic tank bag and I works just fine for me. I don't carry much stuff in it, but it has two side pockets, a thin pocket on top, plus a removeable map pocket (which sits on top of the whole thing). I don't think it was very expensive either. This one is mine, the CL-300 mini, Nelson Rigg.

I have a smaller Cortech bag that worked pretty well



Good - good size, held what I wanted. It would also expand to hold a little more if you needed it. Removeable clear map compartment would hold a GPS.

Bad - If if wasn't loaded it would flop abound at 90mph and above.

Yes, I have the Red Joe Rocket Manta Bag. Also have the "Pearl White" 800 VFR seen pictured. The red bag looks nice with a white tank. Back to the bag--it has 3 compartments and comes with a strap to use the bag as a back pack. The bag is relatively small, but it will hold the basics. Wallet, phone, hat, keys, etc. I love mine.
Here is the negative--mine developed a burr from one of the magnets. Scratched my tank before I noticed. No matter which one you buy, occasionally check your magnets. Hope this helps.

I like the cortech bag. Different sizes and good quality. I have the larger but the smaller was nice just too small for my needs.

Well, after a some thought and comparing the options, I bought the
Nelson Rigg SSC-110 (13x9x6)
It's the right size for me. not too big, not too small.
Side pockets, straps to make it a back pack, and free shipping from
New Enough
It's bigger and cheaper that the cortech 10 liter (12x9x5).

Nelson Rigg is the bag I have, same exact one. It is the perfect size for me. bottle of water, hat spare power pack for phone etc easily carried around if needed. I can also store it in one of my side cases if needed. Very good so far. can see over top to see GPS mounted on RAM mount from head of gas tank. Keep Ezpass in clear top cover.

Just a thought- I mentioned the power pack. I got a black and Decker power to go thingy that has a powered USB out and AC for very small electronics. This is great for charging my phone , Ipod or in a emergency when one of those items comes up short. Is anyone else carrying something like it. You might find it a great little item to carry.
