valve lash adjustment on 84 vf700f

what is the trick guys? i couldnt manage to weesil in a 15 thousands feeler guage. what is the trick for adjusting the lash...

shouldn't the proper clearance be more like 4-6 thousanths??? No wonder 15 won't go !!

Yes .015 should not fit. Use two .005 gauges at a time. Adjust each valve separately and check with both gauges installed sliding one at a time.

ah i was reading my clymer book incorrectly..the book states
intake .012(.005in.)
exhuast . 012(.005in.)
