Seeking advice...

Hi all,
Have seen alot of good advice from experience on here, so I'm hoping to get some advice on the following:

1) The other day I went on a 20 - 30 min ride, when I got home I noticed that the frame was very warm, is this normal? (been out of the bike scene for quite a while)

2) Have noticed some irregular knocks through the foot pegs, mainly in 5th and 6th gear (3500 - 4500rpm). I have changed the oil, as it was over filled, thinking this could have been an issue. Also adjusted the chain as I thought this may have been the issue, but obviously not.

My frame gets pretty warm, too. Mostly due to proximity to the rear head.

Don't know about your knocking... that's a weird one.

I'll second the warm frame. My bike has a bunch of rubber flaps below he seat to keep out water and what not which doesn't help cool that part of the frame down at all.

As far as the knock goes...no idea... old/cheap gasoline?

Looks like the warm frame is normal.

As for the other, I should have also mentioned rough gear changes or inconsistant smooth changes have also been an issue quite recently. Before I look at the gearbox, I will have a look at the slave cylinder condition first. There was another thread (can't remember where) on here with something similar, which impact smooth gear changing.

check your chain....how many miles on it?? could cause some knocks, noise, vibrations.
it may be well knackered.

My frame on my bike gets hot too. I too would check your chain again for proper tension. Too loose and under load, will cause it to "slap" the swingarm. I would also check a few nuts/bolts, make sure the pegs are tight, the frame bolts, and just look it over.

When do you feel the "knock"? Cruising, under acceleration?

Yeppers, my frame gets wicked hot, especially after it sits still after running for a while. It might even be part of the design...kind of a heat sink
...just don't put your lips on it...

my money is on the chain. whenever my bike starts feeling finicky it's the first thing I check and usually the culprit.

Usually in 5th or 6th gear between 3000 - 4500rpm (cruising)
