Are there any exhaust systems for a 03 vfr800 that eliminate the cat. ? Without the need of a new fuel mg mt. system.

Are you sure the 98/99 headers fit later models (same diameter)? I thought someone recently had to improvise a bit to get them to pair up with the final vent? Could be wrong though.

Why not just gut the cat?

Everything I have read says that the 98-99 headers fit the current gens. Early 5th gens had no cat but in 00-01 they fitted a cat in the system, also bringing in O2 sensors.

I have already picked up my set of 98-99 catless headers but alas I don't have the funds to buy a slip on, O2 elims, or PCIII. Once I rack up the cash to do it though I will be able to confirm fitment, although others haven't said anything about fitment problems.

The 5th gen pipes are slightly larger, being 45mm instead of 43mm that we have on the 6th gen bikes.

All of this being said, I don't think that there is any way around some sort of fuel management system such as a power commander when you drop the cat. It will change pressure and all sorts of stuff. I'm very sure that you COULD do it without remapping the fuel/air ratio, however it would be far from optimal and would probably run very very poorly.

Action already mentioned Motad making headers for the bike. Delkevic (sp?) also makes an aftermarket set for our bikes too, but I can't remember if they have a cat or not.

As far as punching out the cat, you can do that for sure, but you are going to run into the same issue as going with catless headers.... the need of a remap for fuel/air ratio due to the change in backpressure. This option is less than optimal though as you create a hollow cavity for the exhuast to tumble around in and create turbulence in the exhaust flow. Catless headers don't leave the hollow cavity and simply provide better performance.
