6th. gen stalling when clutch is engaged

I have a 2005 VFR 800. The wiring recall was done last Oct. Lately while I am riding the bike, it stalls. It only happens when I engage the clutch to change gears as the bike is coming down off it's rpm's it just stalls. Sometimes when the bike is idling, if I rev it up, then take my hand off the throttle it will stall. Any sugesstions? I have checked it for codes and found only one which states the computer is not getting a proper signal from the pulse generator. It bike always starts the first time when cold however, sometimes after itstalls, it will not restart. You have to restart it 4-5 times. It will just start and then stall again.
Also, the bike will run warn, around 200F. Are their any after market thermostats that will open at a lower temp so the bike will run cooler?

I'm not a mechanic but it sounds like what use to happen to carbuerated bikes when the valves are closing early. It happens when the you need a valve adjust. Usually it takes a lot to get FI bike to do this. This is just a guess though.

VFR's run hot in hot weather,especially in town. Is it hot where you live?

Well, riding the bike last weekend I was on the hiway when the outside temp was around 95F but if I let the bike idle long enough, the temp will go up to 220F+ Is this normal?

Your temp is normal. Maybe your computer isn't getting the correct signal from the pulse generator. That would cause it to stall, for sure.

Yeah. The pulse generator tells the ignition when to fire. A bad one or bad connection can shut her right down.

Good call, Hears one for you, I had a bad fill of petrol for a wee station down my road and my bike did the same thing. Just another thing to think about......

try turning your idle screw a few turns may help

Adjusted idle to 1300rpm's. It seemed to help. I've ridden the bike about 30 miles and it has not stalled yet. Thanks for your help. One more question, would it be worthwhile to sync the throttle bodies? The bike does not seem to have the power it used to.

Check the R/R this is common on the 5th and 6th Gen. A lot of riders replace with the heavy duty one and the problem go away. My have the same problem. I am waitting to see if the warraty cover my.

Second that turning up the idle. I had my bike idling on the low side 1100rpms and then the weather hit a mild spell (low 80's instead of high 90's) my 04 was doing the same thing. Pull in the clutch to shift and it would die. I cranked the idle up to 1300rpms hasn't done it since. that was about 800 miles ago.

As far as the temp that's a completely normal temp range for the bike.
