cdi units!

hello im new will say hello in new bit in a sec lol

anyway i have a 1988 vfr400 nc24? i got given it by a friend, it doesnt spark, i have done numerous tests and its either the cdi or the regulator rectifyer! but my question is:...

is the nc30 cdi the same as the nc24?

and

if i put a nc30 one on my nc24 will it work lol

also will a nc30 rectifyer work on my nc24??
