    5th gen to 6th gen

Well I was thinking about how hard would it be to use the lower and upper fairings from a 6th gen on my 5th. I recently low sided my bike and I'm having a hell of a time trying to source the 5th gen parts I need. Search ebay and I find that there are more 6th used parts out there. So I was wondering how hard it would to swap the fairings. It looks like the mounting locates are pretty close to the same if not the same. The major problem would be the headlight and possible turn signals. I'm sure I could either fab something up for a headlight set up and just install some standard flush mount turn signals. Just wondering if anyone else had done this before me. Thoughts? Concerns?

The front fairing would be difficult. The instrument cluster and inside plastics are different. Don't hold your breath.

I would assume that but that would be the least of my worries. I think it would be more important as to how difficult it would be to have the fairings fit. My thought process is that a set of fairings and a fairing stays and I bet it would work. I really think I'm going to try this route.

I have an extra (red) 04 left side fairing. You can have it, would just need to pay shipping. PM me if interested. I'm pretty far from you, might be able to find something cheaper in your area though. Good luck in the conversion.

Any update on this... I'm looking to do the exact same thing with my bike. Their are TONS of fairing kits on ebay for 02-08 VFR's and I happen to have a 98. Dont get me wrong I absolutley love the style of the 5th gens but this would be a great project.

I briefly looked into when Tori had some extra parts. It was way too much headache for me to consider it. I think you can make it fit, but it'll look funny. And I have never had any probs getting parts for my 5g. servicehonda.com, ronayers.com, bikebandit.com any of those have damn near every part on our bikes...

I'm not going to say it can't be made to work, but it will probably look better with the crash damaged parts on it after you get done. There are more than a few differences between the two sets of plastics. I can easily think of at least three places where the mounting points for the 6th gen lower cowls don't exist on the 5th. Good Luck and post up some photos when you get it done.

you guys talked me out of it. Really, I just don't want to invest that amount of down time with only owning one bike. So I think me and my buddy are going to fix up the minor damage on my fairings and fill in the holes were the turn signal houses go. I install some sort of flush mounts in their place.
