Hey all, i have seen lots of great threads on awesome exhausts. I did see this exhaust form a company from the UK Called Delkivic. Anyone heard of em? Heard what they sound like? I have a Gen5 and was thinking about trying it. But i am on a budget and want to make a good buy. I did hear my baby with out the can ( couldnt resist when i took the wheels for new tires) and WOW. If i can get that throaty small block sound, w/o being too loud and obnoxious it would be awesome. I would concider getting a stock pipe used and hollowing it out a bit, but i havent seen any pop up yet. LOL or should i just save the cash for now and get the Micron, i would get the staintune, but i cant get the wife to agree to a $600 exhaust. Thanx everyone in advance.![]()
Livin Aloha no matter where i go.

If you are paying $600 for ANY 5th Gen exhaust, you ARE getting ripped off.
If you want to be adventerous & try an exhaust no one has ever heard of or used, by all means, go for it & please post pics when you get it installed. Or, to save yourself the headache, get a Staintune & you will have your own mechanical symphony everytime you hit the red button on the right grip.
After looking up this Delkevic company, the list price for a 5th Gen VFR titanium can is GBLbs 130. Using my favorite currency converter, ( www.xe.com ) that equates to $185. That is a freaking awesome price for a slip-on. The only variables being whether this can comes with the mid-pipe & band clamp.

Even a stainless header for a 4 gen ... $700.00 ???
Yea thanks KC-10, i appreciate the support. I had been looking at their website and checking into them a bit. They look fairly reputable and its hard to beat the pricing right!? It did come with all the clamps i needed and the right piping as well....sooooo i think i may take the gamble and give them a go. They have a couple of options for the Gen5, there is a regular finish regular length pipe, a titanium like finish and a shorty pipe! I am VERY curious to try the short pipe. If i can con the wife into it...i'll be sure to post plenty of pics. Admittedly i am a Service Tech at a highline car dealer so i ahve some friends who may be able to help me try and work it into a high mount system. LOL been staring at it while its slow here, gotta find a way to show off the sexy single swing! Thanks guys for the current feed back. I'll keep you all posted.
p.s
I know the Stainetune is worth every penny but sadly i need to watch my pennys for now. Unless someone pops up with a KILLER deal.

Stintune high mount = $700 right?
Yes, thats about what i keep finding it for. Unless someone knows where i can find it cheaper. I did find a Youtube video dor the delkevic on a few bikes, the most like ours would be the SV650s, is a v twin, sounded nice. I liked it. But i did find a Youtube for the Staintune as well..... wow, if i could swing that i would! LOL but i'll keep you posted on any changes i make.
p.s. I found the Youtube clips for an RSV 1000 with the Delkevic, HOLY Cow do those sound nice. I am having a harder and harder time NOT picking up this exhaust system, now the only problem is, shorty or standard length! LOL

The most common price I saw was $500 + shipping. That's the main reason I purchased mine used. Much like most companies, I don't know if Staintune is even producing 5th Gen pipes any longer. I give it a max of 3 years until you won't be able to find any aftermarket pipes for the 5th Gens any longer.
With this Delkevic pipe, if it does come with all necessary clamps & the mid-pipe, even after shipping, it would be the bargain of the week for a motorcycle slip-on muffler.
GBlbs 130 for the titanium muffler + GBlbs 40 (I am simply guessing & guessing high for this) for shipping equates to $247 at today's exchange rate. In anyone's book that is a very reasonable price for a titanium pipe.
Someone pull the trigger. It's always nice to have another option to compare.

isn't this a sweet looking pipe?
and AHA!
listed on the Staintune site as $700 AUSTRALIAN.
Their print was much smaller....
thats like $480 USD
AnUnknown1 (02-28-2009)

AUD 700 X .6325 (today's exchange rate) = $442.77
That's for either the high or low mount. The issue now becomes finding someone who can get them.

Well, here it is, i am pulling the trigger later today and getting the Delkevic. After doing some searching, the sound should be nice. The pipe is inclusive and comes with the mid pipe and clamps, so it is a smokin deal. I will post plenty of pics and hopefully a sound bite or 2. I just have to make the decition before lunch about the short pipe (roughly 13" in length ending before the reflector under the tail) or the standard pipe (17" which is just a little shorter than the stocker ending at about the tail light). I know the length might effect the sound slightly so im hesitant to get the short but i like the smaller can. Im sure later on i can enlist a exhaust shop to help me make a mid pipe to make it more of a highmount, i dont mind fabricating. =)

::::: UPDATE!::::::
Trigger pulled this morning. Parts being shipped today, will be here by friday, im new to posting pics/audio/mov. files, but i am willing to document the whole change. The US company is out of Engelwood Colorado. They have 5 more of the standard length in stock. They are about 4" shorter than stock. The stubby is only 13" long! But does have a 2 decible increase. So i went standard. The baffle is removable for those days your just feeling obnoxious. I'll keep everyone posted!
Livin Aloha no matter where i go.

It should take you no longer than 30 minutes, start to finish, to swap out the stock & install the Delkevic. If it takes you longer, you are fined 5 laps around the bar.

If it sounds great I'll prolly pull the trigger as well to use as a winter pipe with my hard luggage...unless I jimmy rig a bracket for my high mount staintune to fit my luggage like another member did.

::::Update:::::
Ok some bad news. One of the owners of the Shop who sold me the pipe, his wife went into labor about an hour after talking to him on the phone and haddent been back to the shop to send my pipe. He was willing to work with me on compensation. i was willing to be patient. Then i got an E-mail this morning. According to Delkevic U.S. The batch of pipes recently arrived and there was a fitment problem and they didnt pass QC. So i am again waiting for confermation on weather or not i will get one anytime soon. Taht being said.... how hard is it to hollow or modify the stock pipe? I have a lead on one and was thinking about getting it...in addition to waiting for the Delkevic. Sorry All, i wish i could have bolted it up last night, seeing as how it cost me a few days on the couch when the wife found out i bought it. It better be worth it LOL
:::::Update:::::
Got another e-mail, we are playing the waiting game.
The U.S. Distributor is patiently waiting to get some pipes in.
The tentative date is next week. And if they Pass muster, then i will
get myne about 3-4 days later. Im dyin here waitin, but it aint stoppin me from riding. =)
::::::UPDATED AGAIN!:::::::
Some good news all. Got an e-mail this mornin. The new pipes hit Texas yesterday and are in the process of going through customs! So with any luck i should have some results in the next 10 days. And i will be adding sound bytes from before and after with anything usefull i can add as well. Cross your fingers everyone.

Livin Aloha no matter where i go.
I think you've made a good choice, I was also looking at the Delkevic exhaust system but they dont do one for my bike. I have not heard a bad report about there product.
I may have to got for this system CB 1000 F Big One - Wom Online Store GmbH
One thing to remember is with any after market system the pipes will only be single skin, which will mean the header pipes will go blue & oatmeal-ish in colour, it is only genuine Honda parts that are double skinned to prevent this happening.
Ok everyone, here it is! Got it this morning, got home and fed the kids and got to work. Yes K.C. it only took about 30 minutes in all, but that was also with taking pics and video. So the plusses.
1) price, wow @ $145 TOTAL its hard to beat
2) It is a nice stainless version, looks great!
3) Sound, yep, it does sound better even with the restrictor in
(long trips i recommend it seeing as how it is a bit loud with it out, great in town)
4) simple install
OK the minuses
1) although it is technically "complete" i feel it is missing a clamp that i plan to get later this week to add to the can where it slips over the mid pipe. It seems a bit too moveable without it in my humble opinion.
2)Mounting, i know i know, its not too bad and it is more or less a slip on but it seems to just barely hold on the end of the can, which may add to the first concern.
3)Well at present thats all i got! My wife thought i should have gone for the short pipe as the current one still seems to end at about the same place.
So here are some pics, and some video of with and without the restrictor. You can thank the wife, she was a big help. If you dont like the sound quality let me know and i think i will try again with a different camera this weekend.
Ok, cant figure out how to upload the video...any suggestions?

Could you also post up the contact information for your distributor? I'm very interested in either this or the Ti version.
Thanks,

Wow $145.... I absolutely love my Staintune I just put on a week ago, but $145....
They also make a header for the 5th gen. I wonder if it would fit on a 6th gen as well. I seem to remember reading that a 98-99 OEM header will fit on a 6th gen, thus eliminating the cat and cutting a lot of weight and flow restriction. Any thoughts???? Ride safe.
Never Give Up!
Great price. How much was the shipping to Las Vegas from UK?

Here is some more info on the different header brands available: LINK

There is a US distributor that sells on Ebay, I emailed him and he says they also have the stubby version in Titainum. I think it is $200 plus 25 shipping. I'm waiting to here more from AnUnknown1 about fit and finish. I sure would like to here his sound bites.

The pipe looks nice from what I can tell in the photos. The length seems good. That would be the only complaint I have with Staintune. The simply don't have the visual appeal of an oval CF pipe.
I wouldn't ride the bike without the clamp that holds the muffler to the mid-pipe. From the pics it seems it only came with the muffler band & the collector clamp? That appears to me a that a part is missing since every 5th Gen pipe I've ever seen comes with one.
Nicely done, I would say you got the deal of the year for a brand new motorcycle muffler.
+1 on uploading the vid to YouTube.

OK OK I finally got it all figuredc out hope you all like it, although im not all that impressed with the sound quality. If you have any suggestions on improving it i would be willing to redo it.
1) With The exhaust plug In
http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYJQRbomS0E
2) With the Exhaust plug out. Not as obnoxious as you would think.
http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6vLOLsyTqM
Now i have added another exhaust clamp, and i agreed with you KC. It seemed to be missing. But with a little modification of the stock clamp i now have 2 proper clamps on the bike as it should have. It is nice and solid, and i think sounds a bit cleaner this time around. I will see what i can do about adding another sound clip. But i would like to try getting it a different way. I think i will attempt it with the video camera instead of the digital camera. Dispite the digital camera having a decent ability to capture it doesnt seem to do very well with audio. Well hope this helps everyone. Although now having everything set up, even the wife thinks we should have gone with the stubby exhaust to help show off the rear wheel a bit more. But we erred on the side of caution, i didnt want something super loud for droning reasons. But with the spud out of the pipe it is still quite reasonable at speed. So i may leave it out full time even on long cross country rides. Thanks to all of you for being so patient. If your in the market for a new exhaust, this one is one hell of a deal! The sound at idle is nice, and at speed isnt too loud, the price is screaming, and there are still several options available. Just email them @ mailto:ebay@delkevic.us, or call them @ (303) 962-2739.

FYI you've got one too many "http://" in your link but I still got it to work.
Sounds pretty good to me... looking forward to your next clip with both clamps installed on it. Would it be possible to move the camera to a location facing the exhaust outlet? Just trying to get the best idea of the sound. Seems to sound like two bros or a quieter d&d(hard to tell the decibel level from the video though). Thanks for the uploads!![]()

Yea, i'll give that a try, and i will again use the same camera. But i will have the wife move to the rear of the bike so maybe we can get a crisper sound from it. Once the kids get up from their nap i will take another sample. Im glad you like it, the wife loved the new sound. May even get one for her Bandit 600.

What about the center stand stop? Does the center stand now hit the new midpipe? or does it rest on something else?
