    Shifting problems

Sometimes when shifting from 1st to 2nd on my 08 vfr, I get stuck in neutral where you hear a clank clank clank, and then sometimes it finally shifts. I have cleaned and relubed my chain over and over, and I can't think of any reason the bike would do this. My bike has just over 4,00 miles on it.

I don't know about an '08, but on my '98 I have to pre-load the shift pedal to get a smooth shift from 1st to 2nd. This works every time. If I don't, I often miss the shift and it's difficult to then get it into 2nd. Try that. Maybe it will help.

The problem I have is that in between 5 and 6 it kinda goes out of gear.

Someone here once showed me a product that was kind of a spring that helped you shift a bit better.

iv been meaning to ask for a link for that product again.

    so...

anyone know what im talking about?

I bought that kit several months ago. Doesn't work well in the box sitting on the shelf. Guess it's time to install it. Thanks for the nudge!

I have this problem shifting, it bothers me. I bought the parts to fix it, but I left them in the box and came up with some goofy workaround way to shift instead.

Well, I guess some of us just aren't as smart and experienced as you say you are.

i'm not hands on familiar with this generation but maybe try flushing the clutch fluid. mine seems to get a buildup of gunk right at the inlet hole of the clutch master. i clean it and good to go. i think moisture is getting in somewhere causing the problem i had. maybe yours will be just as easy.
if you pop the cap off and find the fluid brownish get a clean suction device and suck it ot then flush clean fluid through. don't try and flush the old fluid through to clean it out. hope it helps
