Tank Protection

I would like to keep the paint looking good on my gas tank, but I don't like the aestetics of a tank bra. I do have have a protective "sticker" on the tank right now, but I would rather have the gas tank "naked".

I've heard of people using a clear film protection from 3M called 3M Paint Protection Film. Has anyone use this or can offer any suggestions?

I've also seen another alternative called The Tank Slapper. It's another clear film that applies onto your tank. It's similar to the 3M Protection Film, but a lot cheaper.

I've heard mixed reviews of the tank slapper stuff. I think the big thing is that you have to be really patient and careful when putting in on so it will look good. I have seen numerous bikes with the 3M stuff on them and they all looked great. All the ones I saw were done by just buying large sheets and custom cutting it to fit the bike, then just careful and patient application to eliminate bubbles under the plastic. Makes me wish I had done it a long time ago. Now it is a bit of a moot point ::)

By the way, are you registered on the TWT site? If so, what is your username? I don't recall seeing the atxvfr. ???

So, if the Tank Slapper stuff doesn't work well, then I'll have to go with the 3M Paint Film stuff, but that's expensive I hear. Does anyone know how much the cost of that stuff is?

I have had the tankslapper stuff on for 2 years and have had zero problems it looks good just follow the directions and take your time. One hint install it in sunlight and when it is warm out it makes it much easer.
