Foot peg lowering kit

Hi All,

Am really enjoying my Y2K Viffer, along with my BMW R1150RT...question is, does anyone know about an easy footpeg lowering kit or modification for the VFR?

At 6-3, being able to lower those pegs an inch would really help me add more miles to my daily rides!

Take your bike to any machine shop and they should be able to fab either an extender or a new mount. A welder with a few basic tools should be able to do it also.

I did see sometime ago on ebay a threaded plate that allowed like 3 different mounting positions, if I remember correctly the seller was out of the UK. I search all things VFR on ebay atleast a few time a week & have not seen anything lately. Randy's suggestion is probably the fastest way to get what you want & will also be stronger. Be careful on the lowering though, I was toying w/ doing the same thing on my 86' then I realized how close I actually was to scraping the pegs in the twisties when riding semi aggressively. But if your heart is set on it you may also have to space out the peg as well as there may be clearance issues between the rear brake cylinder & the exhaust header, maybe not on the newer models??

Go to the nearest Harley dealer and order part #'s 520.1 ad & 521.1 ad foot pegs for a Buell.
Grind a little of the mounting ears and they work perfectly on the Y2K VFR.
Lowers the foot about 1 1/2"

Buy a hardened bolt and position existing peg so that it splits the support bracket in half. I did this and galined one half inch. I have been riding this setup for 6 months and strength is not an issue--if you lower the peg to much it will drag if you ride aggressive.

Don't have photos but it is dead nuts simple. The Buell pegs fit in the same spot as stock. The only modification is a little grinding on the Buell mounting ears in order to slip into the VFR mounting bracket. Total cost about $30

Hey i just got done with the same mod, fairly easy with a dremel, but it wouldve been easier with a bench grinder or similar. i took off the whole peg assembly to make it easier to work on, but i'm sure it could be done on the bike. With the buell pegs you have two options, since the pin sizes are not the same you can find a spacer to go in the peg since the whole is oversize from the honda pivot pins. or you can do what i did and drill out the mounts to a 7/16 hole and buy a larger pin b/c i was unable to find the correct spacer. Now on the pegs you will need to grind off approx. 1/32 off the top side of the flange to allow it to fit in the mount. Total cost was about $40, $16 for each peg from Harley/Buell, and about 5 or 6 for new pivot pins, 2 washers, and 2 cotter pinsSo with just a little dremel work they provide about 1 1/2 inch drop with no clearence issues with kickstand like the blocks mentioned above from BLS on VFRD.com..

Hello from Asheville, NC, riding paradise of the east...
I have a 97 VFR and hope the Buel peg lowering thing will work on my bike as well. I'm also going to look into raising the seat height by taking it to a shop and having them add an inch or two of foam under the seat cover. Strikes me there's only so far your pegs can go down before scrapage starts, so raising the seat height gives you a greater net gain to open up the knee angle. I imagine you could overdo it and get into wonky weight distribution and/or balance issues, but it seems easy enough to try---double up a 1/2 in. back packing ground pad and stick it on your seat.
I just got my 97 out of the shop where I had it built up as a streetfighter or naked bike, and man, is it ever sweet..
